My neighbors house caught fire
16 year old home alone trying to cook french fries.
He's fine, but they're now homeless, two outer walls destroyed, smoke damage throughout house, and their pet rabbit was killed.

I'm buying a new ABC extinguisher and extra baking soda tomorrow, that was scary.

1. That sucks.
My neighbors house burned to the ground three years ago. I ended up with their three dogs (two pregnant) which ended up in a family of six dogs. Their fire started in a dryer and the fire department arrived 45 minutes after they were called. (rural area). It was a very bad thing for the family, they were very poor and ended up in town in a two bedroom apartment. They seperated and I lost touch with them.

On a happy note, the dogs are still living togeather and enjoying life.

5. Ugh. I can just imagine what they went through. Good thing about the
dogs at least.

3. My youngest brother did that when he was about 16.
Fortunately, the fire was contained in the kitchen, and he got the fire extinguisher immediately, so damage was minimal. That was scary though. That's sad about your neighbor's house, and I bet the kid feels absolutely sickened by what happened.

4. That's horrible.
I hope the kid doesn't beat himself up too badly about it. And I hope they have good enough insurance to rebuild.

Is there any effort in the community to pitch in and help them out?
