DUer Mabus has strong magic.
I've been missing the remote for the Dish for two weeks. I'd turned over everything and scoured the entire house for it. Finally, I just resigned myself to the idea that there was some sort of black hole in the house, similar to the one that eats socks.
Tonight, my brother came home with a new universal remote. He even bought batteries. It was a nice thing for him to do. I started fiddling with the thing, entering the codes with nothing happening so far.
Just then, Mabus came over. She saw what I was doing, and I explained the dilemma of the missing remote. She said, "Oh, yeah? Did you look in the couch cushions?" "Of course," I said.
She reached into the cushions and pulled out my remote.
Damn!
She can also affect the power grids of major metropolitan areas.
Don't fuck with Mabus.

21. Yeah, it was spur of the moment (wink, wink)
Actually it was. I've had a weird day. I was making breakfast this morning and a piece of a brownie somehow appeared on the bacon. It wss weird. I was the only one in the kitchen and I left for a moment to get my coffee when I returned there was a piece of a brownie sitting on top of a slice of bacon. I have no idea where it came from. It was a little disconcerting because I couldn't figure out where it had come from. (cue "Twilight Zone" music)

I PM'ed evl to talk about the brownie incident because I figured out of all of you he wouldn't laugh (as much) at me. It took him a while to PM back, so to try to figure out what it meant I decided to go talk to my friend, neighbor and explainer of all things mystic. We've been friends longer than we've neighbors. Besides, she had promised me a porch party and I was looking to cash in. Anyway, I walked down to the sidewalk to see if I see her car and I thought I saw it, so I walked down the block to her house. When I got there it seemed a little strange because her dog didn't come greet me. I walked up to the house and her daughter was there. I asked for my buddy and her daughter told me she had died in a car accident. She had the dog with her and the dog died too. I was pretty stunned and discombobulated - even more than I was over the brownie piece appearing on the bacon. So when evl PM'ed back that he was home I rambled a bit trying to figure out what was going on and he offered me refuge for a while.

We're having our official unofficial meetup on Oct. 15th at the Flea Market. I'd love to see you and Gilmore there.

4. Have you considered that this is MIHOP?
Mabus hid the remote.

Don't you think its convenient that she walked right in and found it?

What did Mabus know, and when did she know it?

6. My dear evlbstrd...........
How lovely to see you tonight!

Perhaps Mabus could rent her services to other folks who have lost things?

Sounds like she's really good!

That's why I thought it was so funny and questioned evl about how hard he really looked.

He should have called me sooner. The look on his face was pretty funny.

20. Weird things have been happening today
First it was the brownie on my bacon. That was really freaky. I meant to bring the brownie piece with me but I forgot. It is still sitting out on the kitchen counter and everyone is afraid to touch it. Either that, or they're waiting for me to pick up after them, again. LOL

Then it was the bad thing. Finding out that my friend of 25+ years and neighbor of 6 years was dead. That was kind of weird. Especially since I've been trying to contact her for a while. I can't tell you how many times in the past few days that I've walked to the sidewalk to see if her car was up the street. I figured she was off on one of her adventures. I guess she is in some cosmic way. Last time I saw her she had promised me an evening of beer and other goodies on the front porch and, as you know, I love porch parties. I never got the party, instead I got the late night drunken phone call telling me what I good friend I was. She said that she needed to bitch and needed someone to listen to her. I let her rant for close to an hour. She got it out of her system and when she hung up she was laughing. So, it was just a real stunner to find out that our evening will never be. I was really pretty down until I got to your place - btw, thanks for letting us drop in with very little warning - and it dawned on me that I have a lot of memories of her to draw on. I think I'd rather spend my time thinking about the wonderful times we had together than to be sad for all the times we had planned but will never have. I know that's the way she would want it.

I also want to say, thanks for being a friend. You taking us in gave me some distance and a chance to think. I don't know if I told you guys but I lost five neighbors a couple of weeks ago in a nasty fire. Grandparents and three of their grandchildren. They lived around the corner from us. Man, that was hard. I think I just needed to get away from the neighborhood for a few hours to get a change of perspective. Not to mention it was good to get away from the rest of my house guests.

All in all, it was a very good day. Because we're evil, I think we can take bad situtations that would devastate or depress others and find the bright spot. I was so down earlier today that I was thinking about zapping another city but now I'm mellow again so I won't.

Also, thanks for welcoming my little sister. She talked about what great guys you all were all the way home. She didn't take her afternoon meds and she was a little goofier than usual. She really got her brains scrambled in the accident. She was given up for dead and they didn't call an ambulance for close to half an hour when someone realized she was still breathing. She's a sweetheart and she means the world to me.

btw, the Admiral says howdy and would like to see you soon. He also says, "thank you. Thank you very, VERY much."

Until I see you again, I'll try to manifest something more useful than a piece of a brownie.

Oh yeah, I liked your brother and your nephew but don't tell them. :yoiks:

24. You are always welcome here.
I was so sorry to hear the news about your friend, and I didn't know about the fire.
I suppose I have some powers, after all. If I can help you feel better after all of that, then I feel good.
Your sister is a sweetheart. Tell her I said hello.
And my brother and nephew will never know.

25. Mabus, I am sorry for your loss.
Is it possible that she did leave you the "goodie" on the bacon? Sounds like a good, sweet joke for her passing.
