What is a "performance shoe?"
I'm looking for walking shoes and I see this on half the shoes I'm considering. What's it mean?

1. In the widest sense, that looks are secondary to performance.
Form follows function, that sort of thing.

4. Hiya
:hi:

As a performer on my feet, I had to acknowledge long ago that feet must be kept happy and supported for my life to be a good one. I had to give up the narrow taper, stylish footwear and choose on fit first...no matter the cost or the looks. I've truly worn some appallingly ugly shoes since, but feet have alsways been happy...thus, life has been good.

B-)

3. These? Though I can't imagine doing any heavy-duty walking in them.

11. Glad to contribute wildhorses :) - wow, I am impressed.
I think I could spell graceful, in a pinch, but that's about it.

6. A marketing term to get you to pay a lot more for the shoe

7. Perhaps. But shopping around pays. I finally chose a shoe, and paid
$35 less than most of the sites were charging.

8. You're a smart shopper!
Probably eliminated most or all of that premium - WTG!

10. i used to wear walking shoes until i started having foot problems
and i went to the orthopedic surgeon, his advice to me and i ended up thinking him on my next visit was "You should be wearing running shoes, you can walk in them but you can't run in walking shoes' and then went on to explain the difference and was right. I went to London in april and brought my running shoes, by the end of each day after much walking i was the only not complaining about my feet.

13. New Balance is the only tennis shoe I buy.
(What we call "sneakers" in my family - perhaps it's the generic name in So. California -)

14. I think sneakers is the proper term.
Tennis shoes are tennis shoes, falling under the larger category of sneakers. Just like I don't get those crazies that call all sodas "coke." Freaks...
