WHAT is my cat trying to TELL me?
Edited on Sat Oct-07-06 01:00 PM by Sugar Smack
She's slinking over to me every 5 minutes, and meyowing some LBN message, LOUDLY. She's coming from my bedroom and jumping onto my desk. Then, he starts trilling and meowing and staring me full in the face, very intensely, as though she has some VERY PRESSING MESSAGE to convey. So, as is my habit, I coo and stroke her face, as if I haven't seen her in 10 minutes. She's a Calico Tabby. Is it the full moon? Oh, god. It's down to 1 minute per "report". Then she seems to slink peacefully back into the bedroom. Is it the weather?

Heeee! Thing is, I freak out a little if I see the bottom of her food dish
so she's not trying to tell me that, I think. But she KEEPS coming in here & jumping up and meyowing at me. She even "buffed" my nose a little, if you can believe it. Gave me lots of kitty-kisses. Now the tip of my nose is all shiny! :D

attention. I don't know why she would think I have a clue that could match her wit and intellectual process.

She just slinked away again. She's a spooky, beautiful cat. :loveya: :loveya: :loveya:

13. Sophie thanks you, and so do I.
I am always on the lookout for stuff like an extra note in her voice. She's shed one tear; when I turned my back for a SECOND and she nibbled at some pepper jack cheese. I got her to diffuse it with regular dry cat food. I'm so damned careful about my little baby. My friend thought it was funny, but I didn't.

9. How old is your cat?
has she had catnip lately? (makes'em crazy..am sure you know that)

Is she peeing OK? (sometimes they really are telling you about distress)

Has she been fixed? (Coming into heat?)

16. She's three.
She's gone into heat, and she hasn't been fixed. I keep her indoors, strictly. She pees okay, I think she's fairly well adjusted, and I haven't given her any catnip recently. She used to go batshit over that stuff, but not any more.

:-)

She's far, far less likely to get certain cancers, if she's fixed.

21. I did, sweetie. I even had to mercy-kill a small cricket she'd found
earlier today. I followed her to the bedroom, where her perch is on my bed at EXACTLY nine pm every single night.

It is kind of fun trying to ranslate a cat, though. I'm learning a lot on this thread.

Maybe that's what she's asking you to do.

My cat, Buddy passed away in May, but I sure wish I had one. Seeing your kitty's pix make me jealous. She is so cute.

27. She's a BEEEE-YOOOO-teefull kitty!
You say she isn't spayed...
If you scratch her at the base of her tail, does she start 'bicycling', or treading with her hind feet?
The trilling and extremely affectionate behavior could be indications that she is in heat.
Wish I could tell ya how to deal with this, except
DON'T LET HER OUT...unless you want to be a granma...;)
Maybe call a vet? S/he could give you tips on how do deal with poor horny kitty if you don't want to get her fixed just yet...

30. What a beautiful baby! I vote for her being in heat...
My cats mostly ignore me these days, but every once in a while, they decide I'm good for something like some scritches and actually pay me some attention. Sometimes Sam will hop onto a pile of papers I'm grading and decide to take a nap. How do you get a stubborn 25# cat off of anything?

acts like that when a male stray is hanging around the outside of our house. Even though Bogie has been neutered, he still fills the need to defend his territory when another male is in the neighborhood.

37. Are you on the computer a lot?
I have 2 males cats (neutered) and a female Yorkie-Poo (spayed). When either of the two cats comes up on my 'puter desk, plops himself right in front of the monitor, I know it's time to leave DU and the computer for a while and give the boys some attention.
The dog jumps up and puts her paws on my knee, looks at me so sweetly and lovingly, and I think she's trying to tell me to stop all this stuff on the computer and come play with me!! That's what she's doing right now, so I think I better go for a bit.
Catch ya'll later!!
PS You have an adorable kitty!!

43. What a pretty girl
You absolutely want to get her spayed. My cat is pretty vocal, usually when I get home. She sometimes talks while I'm on the 'puter, but it's usually just to say hi. She's defintely spayed; I wouldn't have been able to take her home from the Humane Society otherwise.
