Owie. I think I twisted my ankle really bad.
Edited on Sat Oct-07-06 02:07 PM by MiniMandaRuth
It's swollen and black and blue, I can't walk on it, and it hurts like hell. I've been limping around the house. Ow.

 Hugs please.

8. Ice works! Ten minutes on, ten off for an hour 2x a day until
you can see a doctor.

I'm so sorry!

2. Black and blue doesn't sound good
You really should get it checked out.

3. Get it checked out by a doctor soon
It sounds as if you really might have done something to it.

Also:

RICE: Rest, Ice, Cold, Elevation.

6. Quit limping around, young lady!
Get off that ankle, elevate it and put ice on it. Also anti-inflammatories are a good idea. As well as seeing a doctor to make sure you didn't break anything.

Oh, and this -

7. Take care of it!
I did the same thing about 10 years ago -- twisted my ankle stepping off an icy curb. It hurt like hell but I kept limping along on it because I had a lot of errands to run. But by the time I got home it was dark purple all the way around and was about 3X its normal size. I didn't ice it or elevate it or any of the stuff you are supposed to do; didn't see a doctor (no insurance at the time); and the result was that it healed very, very slowly and I had a limp for like 2 years. It still bothers me sometimes. So don't do what I did!

9. I did that too! I was lucky because my foot healed properly
But that whole no insurance thing is like Russion Roulette. Geeze.

Go to a doctor even if you have to borrow the dough.

12. Sorry to hear about your ankle.
I am just getting over my sprained ankle.

Get off you foot now and stay off of it, walking only makes it worse.

R. I. C. E.

Go to the Doctor to make sure something isn't broken, and for the next few weeks you will be going a lot slower.

This makes the 3rd weekend for me and I am climbing the walls, but I am getting around without the cane.

 :pals:

13. Ice, elevation,
Ibuprofen, REST.

And get to the quack!

If you've got crutches, use them until you get to the doc. If you haven't got a pair, borrow some.

Stay off it, stay off it, stay off it.

I did an ankle inversion - Sideways twist - and then walked on it for two weeks , back at the beginning of June. I have only been free of pain since the end of August.
