I've become a Lexis-Nexis points whore. |
|
Apparently, I am the "most dedicated 1L" when it comes to learning Lexis-Nexis, according to my campus rep.
This is untrue.
What is true is that I am a sucker for both procrastination (which learning Lexis allows, amply) and freebies (ditto -- you get points you can redeem for actual useful merchandise; I'm working toward a Cuisinart food processor). After that, I think it's Christmas for my spousal- and stepdaughter-equivalents.
I'm enjoying this law-school stuff. It doesn't suck the way everyone says it's supposed to suck.

2. Lexis has better stuff than Westlaw. |
|
Though I think Westlaw is more user friendly.

3. Westlaw doesn't bribe me to use their tutorials, so I'm learning Lexis |

better. Still, I've got a bunch of Westlaw points, too.
It's gonna SUCK in three years when I have to pay to search.

5. I know! Westlaw/ Lexis are like drug dealers. |
|
Hook us on it, while it's 'free.' (i.e. part of our tuition). Then jack up the price when we graduate.
Many firms pay thousands of dollars per month on Westlaw and/or Lexis. And they don't necessarily subscribe to all the things we get in law school.

And it rocks.....
I'm a newspaper librarian. I work for a paper in L.A. and it is my life's blood. without it, I don't know what I would do.
Good luck with law school.

I've assigned some of those Lexis tutorials for my class...and many students have raised their hands and said, "Uh...I really want a and...well...I've already done them..."
