Flying back from London to Frankfurt was a hassle
After a wonderful day with billyskank, tjwmason, swimboy and Mr.Swim the time arrived when I had to leave London. I took the flight out of Stansted. billyskank dropped me off at the airport at 6.30pm (my flight left 8.30pm). So I went to the check-in, which was open already. Stand in line. When I finally was on the desk and wanted to check in my bag the guy told me it would cost me £7.50 (because I made the mistake to not say "I want to check in a bag" when I booked the flight online). I should have payed the money :grr: OK. So I took my bag again, saving the £7.50 and had to get in line for security. By then it was 7pm. Now, that line was so long that it took about an hour to finally get to the screening. Guess what. I lost all "liquids" aka facial wash, cream, toothpaste, hairspray, deodorant (which was a compact powder but was considered "liquid" :wtf:) Even the security guy thought it was stupid but he still took it away. So by now it is 8pm. Remember my flight leaves 8.30pm. Of course my gate is waaay at the end of the airport. So I got there like 8.20 to 8.25pm and the fucking plane just landed and let the other people out!!!! That meant standing in line again :grr: But it went really quick after that and we even landed 5 minutes early.

By the way. I was home at 2am.

Oh and it was worth it because I have met billyskank, swimboy, Mr.Swim and tjwmason (in case you haven't heard it yet)

14. Why is it that we have to stand in so many lines like cattle at the
airport? Only to be ushered into airless, cylindrical spaces that only get less comfortable in the name of economy? I'm sorry you had a rough time MissHoney. I hope you can get to bed early tonight.

16. We should all learn to take it much more easily
We should take ships to get over the ocean, and trains to get over the land. We will of course need much more time off work in order to allow for the extra travelling time. Everyone should have six weeks a year off work minimum. When I become ruler of the world this is how I will begin changing things.

On a serious note, I would love to take a trip on the QM2. It will never happen but a girl can dream. :loveya:

26. You need a scream room
I once worked in a kitchen; one of the few good things about this job was that it had walk-in fridge, and when you went in there another door took you further into the walk-in freezer. If you went into the freezer and shut the door, you could scream at the top of your lungs and nobody would ever hear you.

That came in handy a few times. :D

 :hi: Fugue! :loveya:

29. A scream room!
What a great idea, but I think if we'd have one where I work, right now it would be filled with people screaming!

18. Because it is faster
than trains and ships? And I don't get sick on a plane compared to a ship.

Thanks MrsGrumpy. I am fine now, still a bit pissed but better than last night. I hope I can leave work early today so I can go home and sleep.

20. Probably
but the waiting in line wouldn't have gone down.

What sucks is that when I came to the U.K. I carried all that stuff on board and nobody made a fuss about it. That is what pisses me the most. Oh and that they consider solid powder dedorant as liquid

21. The security procedures vary in different airports within the USA too.

I found out about that little fact midway through my trip. All of the sudden I had too many carry-ons when all I had was my laptop, one carry-on and my purse.

24. Glad you made it
home safe and sound. Yes, airports can be frustrating. In the summer I had to take off my sandals. Now whatever could I be hiding in them?

That all said, I suspect that meeting four nice gentlemen was worth the hassle at the airport. Billy shared some pics last night, and you all look so happy and content!

I suspect you'll be able to leave work early. If you're tired, you are no use to them.

:hi: :loveya:

28. Good morning SimplyF
Yes meeting those four gentlemen definitely was worth everything.

I know what you mean with the sandals. Same thing when you wear a dress that has nothing on it. Still, you get searched and patted down :eyes:

I already talked to my boss. As soon as she comes back from her lunch break I can go home. And fall into my bed and sleep.

Glad you got home OK, though. When I win the lottery, I'll by a private jet and a pilot so we can go anywhere we want without standing in line. You can come along, too. :P
