2. #2, I figure it's a mid-life crisis.
I was in a restaurant with my wife once. We saw a Hummer in the parking lot and when we went inside we tried to figure out who was having a mid-life crisis. We saw some middle-aged dude in stylish but conservative casual clothes and a flashy watch monopolizing a conversation with his friends. Yep, that was him.

5. "Look at me!!! Please!!!" and "Piss on Global warming"
But you never know. I know two doctors who drive big SUV's and live in big homes that would make three of mine but yet these two doctors donate two days a week (apiece) at a free clinic near my home and even help get expensive cancer and AIDS medications for free.

How can you say anything bad about people like that?

9. Yep....like a 8000 sq. ft. plus "green home" for two people
Edited on Mon Oct-09-06 10:13 AM by DaveTheWave
Examples....the celebrity green homes you see on TV all the time.

"Had to knock down a few oak trees, even one with a bird's nest in it, but now we're only paying $600 a month in utility bills instead of $900 and we're protecting the environment at the same time too".

10. I laugh out loud.
And if they're driving an H2, I yell out "Nice Tahoe!"

Ya see, the H2 is a Chevy Tahoe frame with a big box slapped on it to make it look like a Hummer.

I can deal with the family SUV I guess, but I think people buy a Hummer to make a statement and I don't think I like what they are saying.

23. One additional thing I often think...
The Hummer H2 (the most common of these behemoths) is as close as Joe Average is probably ever going to get to driving the SAME car as many of the rich 'n famous. For many shallow folks, having the same thing in their driveway as they see in the driveways of the MTV Cribs, the rap videos, and reportedly owned by many sports figures, is quite something for them. So, for $53k, they get to pretend that they're as "good" (for lack of a better word) as the moviestars and sportsfigures they admire and wish they were more like, and want to be viewed by others as more like.

Of course, the H2 that the basketball star drives is also parked next to a Bentley and a Ferrari, and is most likely paid for.

24. Had a friend who used to say
Doesn't matter much what you drive, it's where you park it that's important. I'm not sure how important where you park it really is, but you get the idea.

We aren't rich ourselves, but my partner and I have friends with bucks and we've noticed that people who are well off are just as likely to have a late model Toyota, VW or Subaru wagon as they are a Mercedes or BMW or some other luxo-mobile

25. Not really a Hummer comment, but I noticed 2 things yesterday:
I took a long drive down Hwy 1 in CA, and I noticed that
  1. People in general no longer understand the concept of using turnouts to let faster cars by, and
  2. SUV drivers tend to be the worst offenders. Hey, just because you have a 'sport' vehicle doesn't mean you're not driving like a weenie! Pull off, and let the good drivers by...

Usually followed by, "Just one?! That figures."

I'm more surprised to see one that doesn't also have one of those obnoxious "W: The President" stickers. I'm surprised they don't slap them on at the factory.

37. Treasonous bastards
It's a word I don't like to throw around but the facts are that we are at war and enemy is Petro-dictatorships, (or whatever Thomas Friedman calls it). They're providing more aid and comfort to the enemy than Jane Fonda ever could back in 1971.

Of course we all could be doing more to use less oil, the Hummer owners are just more obvious in their disdain for all that is great about this nation that I love.
