Why isn't there anywhere to relax and eat in O'Hare? |
|
Seriously, is it a Chicago thing, nothing but fast food and carts? I had three hours to kill there yesterday and wanted to sit in a real restaurant, with TVS, a menu, and a waitress. It doesn't seem to exist there - at least not on the C Concourse.

1. It's because it's freakin' O'Hare... |
|
Though I can't remember if Midway has real restaurants...though it is certainly less busy.

2. I've never been to Midway |
|
but it has to be better. How I longed for the Detroit airport - even the older section is chock full of restaurants.

3. I thought Wolfgang Puck had a place there. |
|
There used to be a Bergoff's too. Though I'm not sure which concourse either were located on.

4. Puck's, no, Bergoff's, YES, but it wasn't a restaurant |
|
it was a cafeteria, and it was absolutely packed. I had too much stuff to carry to juggle a cafeteria tray.

5. There is a Puck's there. |

MrBorlis goes there often. Not sure where it's located though. I thought there was also a Chili's.

6. Must be in a different concourse |
|
which was part of the problem. I don't think I was in a good concourse.

7. O'Hare is the epitome of Airport Hell |

In August, I missed my flight to London by 5 minutes and was rebooked for 4:30 the next day. I had to check out of my motel at 11:00 AM, which left me 5 hours to kill, some of the longest 5 hours of my life. There's a food court-like area with tables, a Chili's with tiny tables where you have to sit with your legs dangling, and a bunch of food carts. There are not enough seats and no free Internet.
The other thing I hate is the way you have to go through security AGAIN when transferring from an international flight to a domestic flight. You're totally jetlagged, you've just spent half an hour standing in the passport line, another half hour getting your luggage for the customs line, and THEN, after you've stood on that silly little train, you have to go through security AGAIN. :grr:
I wish there were some way they could funnel the international arrivals who were terminating in Chicago off from the international arrivals who were transferring to domestic flights.
Oh, and I hate LAX, too, all those little pods with nothing in them but chairs and a fast food outlet or two.

8. United also sent my luggage ahead of me on another plane |
|
and didn't tell me! So, I waited half an hour for my plane's luggage to be loaded on to a carrousel, then waited another 15 minutes waiting for it, didn't see it, FINALLY happened to see it locked up with a bunch of other unclaimed luggage from earlier flights! It was too much, on top of all that time I had to spend at O'Hare.

9. I was there about a month ago.... |
|
Same thing as you......my flight out was at 3:40 and I had to check out of my hotel at 11. Went to the airport and basically sat for a very long time. At about 2 we found out the flight was going to be delayed for an hour or more.....I was fit to be tied...:)
