what is the most consistently good record label that you know of?
the kind of label that you trust their tastes and will give anyone they sign at least the chance of a listen?

stax-volt? blue note? dischord? motown? SST?

all of those are good examples...

do you have a favorite label?

Then I was over it a bit.

7. Stuff is just stuff.
I know how you feel, if I ever had to get rid of my books I would cry my eyes out, but I would trade every one of them for the love of my family and friends, or even the love of my cat. You know what I mean.

9. Merge
Dunno what it is, but I generally like most Merge artists.

So, if I see that an artist/group is on Merge, I'll generally at least give them a listen just cause I'll end up liking the band more often than not.

And Distort/Dine Alone usually deliver as well, though they're really small labels.
