I just saw "Pulp Fiction" for the first time...
...I know, I know--an almost inconceivable state of affairs... How the hell can anyone, in this year of our Lord 2006, not have seen "Pulp Fiction"?... Well--I can manage stuff like this...:eyes: I have no inclination to review the film at this time. I will say, however, that while watching it--and indeed, even now when I think of it--I had an intense desire to do handsprings, sing an aria from "La Traviata", launch a 21-gun salute, and various other stuff along those lines... Wow. And wow again...:-)...

1. Seen other Tarantino?
Best working film-maker today, IMO.

21. Seen it about a brazillion times too...
I remember when it came out in the theater, and after the "Any of you move, and I'll execute every motherfucking last one of you!" line, when Dick Dale's "Miserlou" kicked in and the words "Pulp Fiction" decended/ascended onto the big screen, it was such a "Whoa!" moment.

6. Now go and watch
True Romance - another excellent Tarantino screenplay. The bit with Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken cracks me up just thinking about it and it's got a great ending too.

11. Wow, thanks for reminding me...
True Romance I've never seen all of. Saw the segment with Hopper/Walken, and I think some hilarious moments with Brad Pitt and a honey-bear. Am I getting this right? Christian Slater, and a neat car too??
Thx for reminding me of the title, edwardlindy! :hi:

14. Also check out Reservoir Dogs
Mr. Brown: Let me tell you what 'Like a Virgin' is about. It's all about a girl who digs a guy with a big dick. The entire song. It's a metaphor for big dicks.
Mr. White: No, no. It's about a girl who is very vulnerable. She's been fucked over a few times. Then she meets some guy who's really sensitive -

20. One of my alltime favorite scenes- also the Tarantino film connection
Edited on Tue Oct-10-06 12:03 PM by underpants
Okay most people know about this but I wanted our original poster to know this.

Travolta's character Vince Vega is the brother of Mr.Blonde in Reservoir Dogs

In Reservoir Dogs Harvey KEitel has a scene in the big boss's office in which he says, "Yeah Alabama she was a really good thief" well "Alabama" is Patricia Arquette's character in True Romance.

The "person" they are taking Harvey Keitel to see in Reservoir Dogs is a nurse .....the same nurse who is Tarantino's character's wife in Pulp Fiction. Bonnie.

Seymore Scagnetti (never seen) is everyone's parole officer

The actress who gets shot in the collision scene between Bruce Willis and Ving Rhames is the same actress shot gets shot in Reservoir Dogs. Oh if you didn't notice that WAS Kathy Griffin in the crowd at the collision scene.

7. What about the violence?
I couldn't take the violence in that film. I'm sure there are even more violent films out there but this one had more than enough to make me stop watching.

22. Eh, I didn't think the violence was so bad...
as for not being sure there are more violent films out there, let me answer that by saying absolutely, positively, there are WAY more violent films than Pulp Fiction out there. Clearly, you're not familiar with the films of Tobe Hooper (e.g. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) or, earlier than him and even more gory, Herschell Gordon Lewis (e.g. Blood Feast, Two Thousand Maniacs), along with a huge list of other ultraviolent film directors.

13. I hated it the first time I saw it.
Blood, brains and bone fragments weren't funny.

I've lightened up a little since then. Jackson's dialogue at the end in the diner is classic.

Me too...go figure. I can't get enough of it now. I really like the CB song "You Never Can Tell" and the dance scene.

15. If my memory serves me right...
Pulp Fiction was Travolta's big 'comeback' movie after he hadn't acted in quite a few years, like from the disco era. Seeing him dance again was a hoot. :D

18. like that line in the diner too
Ezelkiel 25:17

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

In reality that quote is not from the bible but from a Sonny Chiba film Karate Kiba.
