Ever have a day when you REALLY miss somebody?? |
|
I woke up this morning thinking of my Aunt. She died of cancer just before Christmas two years ago and for some reason she was on my mind the first thing when I woke up. We used to talk to each other every day just about. She was in Milwaukee, and I--here in Detroit. It's also funny (I'm not sure if that is the right word) how people lose any of their negative traits upon leaving us. I think that's a really good thing.
I miss talking with my Aunt everyday, but I'm glad that I did.
Have a great day DU! :hi: :grouphug:

1. Yup...I have days like that. |
|
I enjoy the memories, though. Makes the person feel that much closer to me, whether they've died or just faded out of my life for one reason or another. Sometimes it hurts but the hurt reaffirms the love that I feel. You can't hurt over missing someone that you didn't care deeply for.

I am not so very sad as melancholy... I miss my talks with her. She cared more for me than I realized at the time.

14. I've only ever missed one person, and that was for just a little while. |
|
I'm not sure if it was even missing, but it seems to fit the description. It was because of a rare meeting had become habitual and was terminated. This means the change in habit created some discrepancy in my mood.
I don't really know how to miss people. I don't know how everyone else learned. Perhaps there is something wrong with me?

My father doesn't so much "miss" people as he treasures their memories. Although what you described sounds a lot like missing. :hi:

Apparently, we're supposed to miss people more often than once per 18 years. I mean - I moved out of home to a place very far away, with one of my parents ill enough that I might never see them again, and what did I feel? Pretty much nothing.
Has led to some strange conversations though... like one that went (them) "So people go away, or you are a long way away from people you know, and so you feel bad"
...
...
...
(them) "Is this somehow troubling to you, R_A?"
(Me) "I don't feel that. Am I supposed to?"
But as far as my brain goes, one thing missing isn't enough for me to lose sleep over, compared to what has gone missing in the past.

21. Yes, I miss my partner of 24 years. He died last February (long story) |
|
Surprisingly, I'm doing better as a single person than I thought I would. But a few times a week, something comes up that reminds me of him so strongly, that I usually start crying. I'm lonely, not so much for friends but to have someone I can tell just about anything to and share with on a deep level. It hurts.

Oh yes. Sometimes weeks. I miss people dear to me who've passed away. I miss my sweet, gentle dog who gave us unconditional love. I miss people who've come into my life and for whatever reason, left. Those are the hardest to deal with for me.

31. Yeah, and sometimes it hits unexpectedly |
|
I mean, there are days I really, really miss my mom and she died over 30 years ago. But every now and then, I think about my friend Bill and I'll think, "Gosh, I wonder what he's up to these days" ...
and then I remember he died back in '81. Every time I do that, it feels like the first time I heard it. :(
On the other hand, I'm glad I do remember so vividly. It would be bad to forget those we love.
