In fact, if I'm not mistaken, Skinner was asked about this once before, and he wasn't into it.

11. DU cannot be all things to all people.

The huge number of groups and forums already dilute the political purposes of this blog.

And if you consider the practical aspects of it, there are geographical constraints re the practicality of getting together for a real world relationship; this blog already attracts freepers -why add the kind of lurkers/stalkers who prey upon the needy/naive; and DU doesn't vet the backgrounds/credentials of posters - so opens itself up to scandal & lawsuits should someone be raped, robbed, swindled, duped or otherwise injured when revealing actual addresses/phone numbers in order to meet up with their true love.

This is not to say that YOU are needy or naive - but there are a lot of people around here who are one or the other. I know many hook up over the internet - aren't there such options in your homestate/area? Or perhaps you could get politically active with your local or state Democratic party to meet like-minded people.
