Who has bumper stickers on their cars?
Edited on Fri Oct-13-06 05:33 PM by MsKandice01
Okay, so I just bought two anti-Bush bumper stickers from Cafe Press. I just told my husband about them and he's thinking it wouldn't be a good idea to put them on because it could make my car a target for vandalism.

Have any of you had any negative experiences related to your bumper stickers? Positive experiences?

Oh, and I also bought this t-shirt.

1. I have several
I have "Impeach Bush", "Somewhere In Texas A Village Is Missing It's Idiot", the W with a line through it (like the no parking circle and line) and my Democratic Underground sticker.

My car has been keyed and I don't really care but that's the only damage it's had. I drove it all the way across the US and back last summer, through many, many red states - got a lot of looks, some fingers and a surprising number of thumbs up. Met a DU'er in Idaho at a 7-11, educated a freeper in Virginia.

It's the first time I've EVER put a bumper sticker on a car and it's also the first new car I've ever owned. I feel pretty strongly about things right now and I WILL NOT BE SILENCED!

My advice? Put 'em on. It's just a car, and what's at stake is your country.

2. See, this is the problem.
Habeas corpus is wiped out. Torture is legal. 3,ooo military killed. 300,000 civilian killed. And we worry about a bumper sticker.

Nice shirt, tho.

I'm not worried about it, but I don't live in a right wing area either.

9. You should be fine then.
Sacramento's a little wingnutty on the outskirts and I've had more positive comments than I can count and only one negative one (yelled by some service age college boys from a passing SUV) about my stickers. Nobody's ever tried to screw with my car over them.

7. I have multiple and I've never had a problem.
I live in a red county, but it's still fairly liberal.

I have two non-political stickers, "War is Not the Answer," a DU sticker and a Rainbow "Girls Kick Ass" sticker

10. Right now I have two:
"If You Aren't Completely Appalled, You Haven't Been Paying Attention."

and

"Don't Blame Me, I Voted For Kerry."

I am also about to add: "Who Would Jesus Torture?"

I've never had any problems; on the contrary, I've often gotten honks, smiles and thumbs-up. But I do live in a very blue city.

13. I've never had a problem
but I do live in a pretty liberal area anyway, still I have heard of people having stickers scrapped off or vandalized (the stickers) in this area, I don't think I've heard of any serious damage to the cars themselves.

But as someone said above, if you feel strongly enough put it in perspective and I think you'll see it's well worth the risk.

15. I have a bunch of stickers
Edited on Fri Oct-13-06 08:53 PM by hippywife
and live in rural Oklahoma and work in Tulsa. Haven't had any reactions yet that weren't positive. Husband has a bunch on his truck and one day, a Sunday, we used it to go grocery shopping in Broken Arrow, aka Rhema Bible Collegeville, and someone left a note on his driver side window that read "Democrat Baby Killer!" No doubt someone coming to the store after church had just let out. :eyes:

Edited to add that I love that t-shirt!

18. I live in Texas (both Plano and Austin)...
I have the following stickers on my truck:

Asses of Evil (pics of cheney, rummy, and bush)
At least in vietnam, bush had an exit plan
My Dog is smarter than your president.
Proud Progressive
1st Illegal Immigrants (pic of pilgrims)
I love my country but I think we should see other people
Anti-W-ar
War occurs when the cost of aggression is cheap (reagan quote, freepers hate it)
Can we all get along? I'll kiss your elephant if you'll kiss my ass!

Plus a few more I can't remember now.

Never had a problem. Get a few shaking heads, but more often than not I get thumbs up and "Hell Yes!". But then again, I'm a pretty big dude so no one ever wants to mess with me. I guess it depends where you live.
