How do people post in a different font?
I've noticed that, er, certain DUers post in a "typewriter" looking font. Not that I'd have any interest in doing this, because it looks unpleasant to my eye, but I didn't see an option for this in the DU menus. Is this something you set in your browser settings?

1. "Check here if you want to format your message in plain text."
That's how.

Yikes, never mind. That came out too big! I never use the different fonts but you can if you just adjust the html code in the html lookup table. I never do. Not for a message board. I also find it rather distracting.

11. If you only want a particular section, you have an option or two also.
It might look unpleasant to you, but it is good for formatting tables, since each character uses the same amount of space.
You can use pre /pre
or you can use tt /tt like so. pre (or preformatted) assumes you are formatting a whole section, so it breaks the line at the end. tt is telling the browser to use a typewriter font, so it doesn't add a break, just like if you were to change the font size or color. Here on DU, you be enclosing those in [ & ]
