You have to hold the seat up until you're done whizzing.

10. Here is why: EVERYONE uses the seat while down, |
|
only one sex uses it while up. Therefore, it serves the greater common good to have the seat down by default, and it is the duty of the one who raises it to restore the seat to its default (and natural) position.

9. problem solved at our house by buying a self closing seat, |
|
just takes a little tap forward and the seat s.l.o.w.l.y closes so does the lid.
It's just awful that we're used to it and if we go elsewhere we tend to forget and either the lid or the seat is heard crashing down.

Please post the URL of the supplier? Copius seat fly-downers and ups want to know. Seriously. Males think Females are too prissy, but it is pretty awful to be in the middle of the night and a seat is left up, we don't wish to have a light on to disturb our housemates, partners, friends, spouses, and the behind feels something slimy that is urine? It's easier if the male just does his bathroom duty, and leaves the seat down, unless one is staying in a Frat house..then women who choose to stay there have to beware.
Ugh..

We bought it in the store..regular price might have been $35..we got it on sale for under $30.
edited to add: The upper link is to the elongated seat. Here's the round one:

I work with a bunch of guys. If the seat is left up, it was more than likely up when they used it. I'd rather check for seat position instead of sprinkles.

For a couple reasons.
My grandmother had a tale from back in the 30's. She heard a splash in the bathroom and caught a big rat climbing out. It swam through the pipes. She said she chased it with a broom for twenty minutes. At least someone wasn't sitting on the bog.
Plus I'm worried that on a klutzy day, I might drop my specs or something into it.
