2. I'm actually watching Friday the 13 part I right now.
The blonde girls is by herself making coffee and wondering where Bill went. I've never seen this before, but I keep thinking, "It's only a matter of time blondie!"

6. They are very creepy.
The Night of the Hunter is an old movie starring Robert Mitchum as a murderous preacher who is trying to hunt down and kill a couple of children. Scared the crap out of me when I first saw it.

Prince of Darkness is a John Carpenter movie about some researchers who find a strange container in an old church. It turns out that it contains Satan. Satan's father is an even more powerful evil being who was banished to another dimension. Satan attempts to bring his "father" into this world by pulling him through a dimensional portal. It sounds bizarre, but it's so creepy I was only able to watch it once.

And Dead Ringers is a David Cronenberg film starring Jeremy Irons, playing dual roles as insane twin gynecologists, one of whom invents weird medical instruments. Very disturbing.

8. 1) Ghostwatch
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0200659/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghostwatch
I was 12, watched it alone and still haven't quite forgiven the BBC. I literally had nightmares for weeks.

2) A Nightmare on Elm Street - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087800/

3) Funny Games - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119167/

4) La Cabina (The Phone Box) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065513/

5) Exorcist III: Legion - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099528/
There are many overall scarier films than this, but I've picked it because it has the scariest OMFG! heart-in-mouth moment I can think of. I'd love to see something close Blatty's original cut of this (the studio forced rewrites/reshoots).

13. Question about The Shining
Got chills --NOT in the crazed-NICHOLSON scenes-- but where the wife looks at the pages of the "book" he's been typing, and it's all, "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog."

Question: Why was Stephen KING unhappy with it and need to re-do it? I've tried watching his version a couple of times and never got far with it.

My FIRST scariest movie was when I was a kid of 5 or 6? THEM!!!1 About atomically enlarged giant fireants killing people with their pincers. Their chirping sound!!!1

14. As I understand, King did not have creative control of the 1st "Shining"
He was never happy with it.

16. Most of mine are old:
War of the Worlds (The 1950s version with Gene Barry)

Horrors of the Black Museum - British film, probably Hammer, from late 50s.

Psycho (The original)

The Haunting (The 1960s version with Claire Bloom and Julie Harris)

Nightmare on Elm Street

18. Horrors of the Black Museum. Loved it. I loved all of the old Hammer
films.

Also the original House on Haunted Hill was quite the trend setter for its time. And The Hand.

Such a simpler time.

17. I'd replace IT on your list with John Carpenter's The Thing
But I'd keep all the other choices in roughly that order.
