I've been hoping for a rematch of 1968. :bounce:
Tigers look dominant, man. What a ball club!
And I really loved how they celebrated with their fans when they won the ALDS. That was so classy.
Oh... sorry, Shakespeare.

5. Hey Shar, congratulations to you and all the other Tiger fans. |
|
I'll get into trouble for posting this, but I'm pure delighted that the White Sox didn't make it into the post-season. It was sooo hard last year for a life-long Cub fan (like myself) to put up with the BS from the Sox fans among my family and friends. It was unmerciful and uncalled for. Now the shoe's on the other foot....
Being that I'm a Cubs fan and two of the teams I detest are playing in the NLCS as I type, I'm definitely rooting for the Tigers in this years World Series.
GOOO TIGERS!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

6. Thanks, Mo, and everyone else |
|
for your congrats for our team. This was our year, for sure, in spite of the bad finish of 19-31 in the last 50 games. You could just feel it all season like in '84.
It will be interesting to see if it will be a rematch of '68 with St. Louis. In a way I'm hoping for the Mets, though. We have good friends in NY who are avid Mets fans and it would be fun to be playing them.

12. Funny that you mentioned the 68 World Series... |
|
I was a junior in HS that year and the nuns at my school were all from St. Louis and all huge Cardinal fans. We actually got to watch the games in school and I got myself in trouble with some of them because I was rooting for Detroit.
I used to be a rabid baseball fan when I was younger. I don't follow it nearly as close as I did in the late 60's and during the 70's. But this time of year always make me miss my Mom. She was the person responsible for making me a Cub fan and a lover of the game of baseball. She would follow every League Championship playoff game and World Series no matter what team was playing.
I can assure you that Mary Elizabeth will be rooting for the Tigers in the great beyond as well. She never got over the Cubs losing to the Mets in 1969 and of course, she despised the Cardinals as well.....

16. My dad was, and still is, a HUGH!!! Tigers fan |
|
I used to watch games with him when I was just a kid. When we went to games he always got the program and marked up the scoring sheet during the whole game. That's where my love of baseball came from, although in recent years I haven't watched much because the Tigs have been so bad until this year.
And now I'm watching my other team -- Michigan -- beat up on Penn State. Go Blue!

I'm not sure if I'd rather play the Card or the Mets. I might be fun to have a replay of '68, but we have friends in NY who are avid Mets fans, so that would be kind of fun, too. Whoever it is, as long as we win, I'll be happy.
I just can't believe they could be playing into November!!

I've been rooting for the Tigers since the playoff's started, and their spanking of the Yanks sealed it for me...if the Tigers lose the series, I will eat my hat, mark my words!

19. The roadside stands selling paraphernalia |
|
started setting up shop today before the game was over. I'm used to seeing them for the Pistons and the Red Wings, but it's still like a dream seeing them for the Tigers. I feel like I'm living in some kind of alternate universe.

Still have fond memories of a friend of mine from way back in high school. He was a HUGE Tigers fan and would pull the games in on WJR while down here in Dayton, Ohio. This was when Fidrych had everyone's attention. I know that my friend Mark, wherever he is these days has to be thrilled. I'll be pulling for Detroit in the WS.
IF the Tigers win it all, Leyland will join my man Sparky in the exclusive club of managers to win a WS with both NL and AL teams. Right now, Sparky is the sole member (Reds and Tigers). Leyland has one with the Marlins...
Go Tigers!

21. TIGERS VS CARDINALS!!!!! |
|
Cardinals fan here... VERY happy for the Tigers. My jaw DROPPED when Ordonez slammed that walkoff homer. Truth be told I'm afraid to play the Tigers in the WS... they seem pretty unstoppable. But I welcome the challenge nonetheless!
I love watching them play. I especially love watching Kenny Rogers pitch. He really brings a ton of passion to his game, and I appreciate that. It will be a Series for the ages... and you can bet that if the Mets manage to win the NLCS I'll be rooting for the Tigers. I love baseball!

22. I love the fact that Maglio Ordonez won the game for the Tigers... |
|
I can't wait to talk to my nephew Dan; huge and obnoxious White Sox fan, tomorrow.
I'll have to remind him that the Sox letting Mags go was the dumbest move in baseball since the Cubs traded Lou Brock to the Cardinals for Ernie Broglio...
