Why does Lou Reed hate "Loaded" so much? |
|
I just read a book about the NYC scene of the early 70's...and the birth of CBGB...etc...
Anyway, apparently Lou Reed hated "Loaded" and considered it a work he was ashamed of - yet I don't know anyone who heard this album who didn't love it...
What gives?

1. I don't know, but that seems to happen a lot. |

Artists often seem to hate their most popular stuff. I wonder if it's because that's what they're asked to perform the most often, so they get sick of it.

4. Because it's essentially "Doug Yule's album",,, |
|
although Reed wrote the songs, Yule did the bulk of the arranging, sang several of them, and played lead guitar on most of the cuts

After Lou had his breakdown and left after the Max's Kansas City gigs it became Doug Yule's band. Lou hated the mix as well, as what they did to "New Age"..
