33. I am really curious

I have been to a number of places and towns in California during the 35 plus years I have lived in the state, and I can't think of a place which has an old jail tower like the one shown. (Though it is possible I might have seen it and don't remember.)

I think you said in the other thread that the town was within four hours driving distance of where you are, so I think that would eliminate its being in the far northern part of the state.

I would have wanted to come to any gathering near San Diego, and I would like to do so some time in the future.

I have been up the coast a few times, and have been up I-5 a few times. I have not been in the eastern part of California, except for a couple of times I went to Death Valley.

So I am really curious what town you were in, if you don't mind telling.

The town is Hanford.......it's close to Kings Canyon Nat'l Park...

Or you could also say that it's between Bakersfield and Fresno...

It takes at least 4 hours to get there from my town.....and of course it would be a lot longer from San Diego!

I have not been in that part of California, and so would not have been in Hanford.

Actually, one time, many years ago, I visited a friend in Madera, California, whom I had previously known at my church in San Diego, and took the bus from where I lived at the time to either Fresno or Madera. This was before I had my own car. The bus went along Highway 99 and stopped in several towns; however I see that Hanford is well off of Highway 99, so I don't think the bus stopped in Hanford. That being the case, I am almost certain I have never been in Hanford.

Incidentally the friend I visited, and his family, were (and presumably still are) fundamentalist Christians (or at least very strongly conservative), and I think I would have almost nothing in common with them now. I have not been in touch with them in many years. I think people of that persuasion are quite common in that part of California.

That does remind me I have still not yet been in places like Sequoia and Yosemite. Some time I will have to go there.

Mostly we stayed at Whoa_Nelly's house..........it was grand!

Saturday evening three of the ladies went to a Halloween Haunted House thing......

During the day, we'd gone to the downtown and had a stroll around the civic center. The old buildings are wonderful!

And then for dinner Sat night, we went to a local Mexican restaurant, and ate very well!

Sunday we went to a bakery/deli place for a wonderful brunch!

We did have a fantastic time!
