1. I didn't eat all day.
I was really hungry. I was looking forward to dinner even if it was just leftover lasagna, which would have been awesome.

I stopped at rite aid.

Mars brand candy bars were 3 for a dollar.

I'm going to get fat and nobody will ever love me. x(

4. Yours sounds yummy too!
I am something of a healthy cook...

(the ice cream is a no-sugar variety)

Unfortunately I later drank 1 cup of red wine and then ate half a bag of salt&vinegar kettle chips because I'm lonely. :D

24. My fiance and mom are very meat and potatoes
kinda people so I have to constantly cook rather rich food for them. I just don't have as much.

I've been making homemade lettuce wraps lately and they are just as good as the restaurants. I cook alot of tex-mex too.

for desert I'll probably make sopapillas with honey, god they are sooooo good.

But the name "Squat'n'Gobble" was surely a prop title in the background scene for the movie 'Gigli'?

9. I had the same thing, only with a different recipe.
I had leftover homemade pizza. I use crescent rolls as crust, because I like the flavor better. I use Ragu original sauce.

Cresent roll crust
Ragu original sauce
1 small onion
1 lb ground beef
mushrooms
olives
tons of pepperoni
mozzarella cheese

It's not like regular pizza, but it still tastes good. My aunt couldn't eat her leftovers because I left the onions raw instead of cooking them into the ground beef this time. I guess I'll have to learn to make a half and half pizza next time, because I prefer to bake them on there raw so I can crunch them when I eat.

23. Same thing I had for breakfast.
Soysage-tomato-basil sauce on ziti with garlicky bread (but not "garlic bread" because "garlic bread" implies butter), a glass of merlot followed by a cup of sanani. (An aged African coffee, rare, exotic and yummy, with taste notes of cocoa and smoke.)

Near-cheez on saltines and tawny port for dessert.

Edited on Mon Oct-16-06 08:33 PM by crim son
And I have eaten shredded coconut. When I was a vegetarian I used to make my own coconut milk by buying unsweetened, shredded coconut and covering it with boiling water. After letting it sit for a while you puree the whole mess, then strain out the liquid through cheesecloth. It turns out it's less effort and probably cheaper just to buy it, but at the time I was The Perfect Mom (!)

40. Salat-eh-olivieh
Persian chicken salad - the world's best chicken salad. Originated in a Moscow hotel about 100 years ago, but was adopted by Iranians and is very popular in Iran.

Ingredients: (4 servings)

chicken, 400 grams
potatoes, 500 grams
medium onions, 2
medium eggs, 3
peas, 1/2 cup
medium carrot, one
dill pickles, 100 grams (should not be sweet pickles)
fresh lime juice, 2 teaspoons
mayonaise
cooking oil
salt
black pepper

Directions:

Peel and thinly slice onions. Fry in oil until slightly golden. Add chicken and fry until colour changes. Wash and peel carrot. Chop into small pieces. Add to chicken with a bit of salt and one cup of hot water. Cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes. Remove bones and cut into small pieces.

Wash potatoes well. Add hot water and cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes, then mash them well using the back of a fork. Cook peas over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Finely chop dill pickles. Boil eggs until hard. Remove shells and crush well using the back of a fork.

Add potatoes, peas, pickles, salt, black pepper, mayonaise, eggs and lime juice to chicken (with a bit of juice) and mix well. Salad-e Olivieh should be served cold.

Optional: pour the mix in a dish and flatten the surface with the back of a spoon. Place some mayonaise on top and spread over the surface with a knife. Slice one or two dill pickles length-wise and use the slices to decorate Salad-e Olivieh. Salad-e Olivieh is believed to have foreign origin but has been modified in Iran.

47. It's a LOT of work to make it. I made it today and it took me about 1 hour
of nonstop work, and that was starting with an already-roasted chicken which I bought hot, and the chicken alone cost $6.99 at the Vons grocery store. So the total investment is pushing $20, but for that you end up with about a quart of it, which is four good meals worth. Every ingredient is essential to the final flavor; no ingredient can be left out. I also grate some of the lime peel and include it with the lime juice. Almost all Persian restaurants carry this dish on their menus, and it's usually $6.95 or $7.95, so that's a great way to try it out before going through all the work of making it. It's heavenly stuff and very rich and filling - definitely not for dieters.

I'll try it at a restaurant first. Should not be hard to find one here in NYC.

By the way, if there is a Costco near you, try their rotisserie chicken. Absolutely delicious and only $4.99.

49. I love those chickens at Costco - they just went up to $5.49 here
in San Diego. They were $4.99 for a long time. Still a great deal at $5.49. They are much bigger than the ones at the supermarkets here. I only use the white meat, and it seems like I get about twice as much white meat from the Costco ones than I get from the supermarket ones. If the Costco here was closer to me, I would get theirs all the time.

46. Asian Chicken Wraps
Edited on Mon Oct-16-06 11:47 PM by Flaxbee
chicken marinated for an hour or more in a mix of sesame oil, canola oil, rice vinegar, garlic, orange rind, salt, garlic, soy sauce and fresh ginger; reserve 2+ tbsp of marinade (before the chicken is placed in the marinade) for dressing. Cook the chicken in a skillet for 15 minutes or until done. Then shred the chicken and wrap in iceburg or Boston lettuce leaves, adding bean sprouts, fresh mint, and chopped peanuts; drizzle with the marinade. Squeeze of lime if you like.

Really, really good. Found the recipe on the internets and gave it a try - definitely a keeper.

edited for clarity.
