And it seems the same ones that can't say the "g" in strength are the sames ones that will clearly pronounce the "g" at the end of string, kind of like streen-guh. ;)

have is possesive. it sounds kind of silly to say "I have " to do this, or that. We should be saying "I need to go to the store" or "I must go to the store."
that must confuse the shit out of people when learning english as 2nd language.

Since the days of Old English and before people have complained of the language going to the dogs, but change still happens...and it can take a language from being a minor language on Europe's fringe with a vestigial system of inflection signposting case and grammatical gender to a worldwide language without such complexities, but with many more of it's own.
