I had a 3rd phone interview today for a gig in NYC.
I'm starting to think I just might get it.

Tips for moving to NYC? With a dog? Office is near 38th & Park Ave.

1. Good luck!
Rent in the outer boros can be relatively reasonable - and there's lots of green space. As long as you're near a subway, don't be afraid of distance ... express lines can get you in the city within a hour.

I feel sorry for dogs spending the day alone - I've always kept cats in pairs.

You can get a good feel for rents at Craigslist; consider sharing space before making a long term commitment.

Start a thread in the New York forum - let us know when you're coming and I'm sure the usual suspects will be delighted for a excuse to meet-up.

2. Thank you very much.
I'm not sure that I want to commute an hour, so I think I'll be looking in Manhattan. Maybe Brooklyn, but if I'm going to move to NYC, I might was well go all the way and do Manhattan for a year or so.

I'll stop in the NY forum when I know more. Thanks for the suggestion.

4. Looks like it's down the block.
But I suppose I could just take up residence in the Waldorf like Paris Hilton. I dunno....I may have to wait and see what the actual offer is before I check into my penthouse.

5. for a cheap place to live, try Astoria queens
It's on the end of the N/W line, and takes about 20-25 minutes to get to Times Square. Very cheap.
