Crap!!! One of my cats just brought me a "present" -- a LIVE mouse!
She set it down under the coffee table, and I managed to get a gloved hand around it, but then it got away from me. Now, it's hiding under the couch! And Katie Cat? Went outside, the little brat. I'm not squeemish about mice, but I really don't want one running around the house.

2. Ewwww! It would squish all over the place.
Besides, the shovel won't fit under the couch.

3. Yeah, but then she's gotta clean up the resultant mess
My cat used to bring her toys in alive...she'd drop 'em under the dining room table and then I'd have to catch 'em with one of those big plastic cups, slap a magazine over the top and take it outside.

The cat had to stay in after that, though.

9. Heh...we started to watch when ours went outside
and then made them come in through the garage. Until I stepped on one of their 'gifts' in my bare feet at 2 a.m.

Now the cats pretty much stay inside, period. They wanna play? Beanie babies. They don't squish when you step on 'em.

4. get a metal bowl or a cardboard box
Edited on Tue Oct-17-06 01:47 AM by grasswire
Then flush the critter out and drop the bowl/box over it. Then you can slide a piece of cardboard underneath, take the whole thing outside, and voila.

16. I don't want to hurt the mousie. I just want it out of the house.
That's why I tried to pick it up, but it got away from me.

18. Guess I've been lucky
All the live ones Lucy's brought me were either stunned or li'l bitty ones that were slow.

Mousie is sorry for causing you trouble.

19. We had one of those "presents"
under the couch, and we didn't know it. The couch started to smell, and we did not know why. The damn thing died in there, and we had to get rid of the couch.

But the most fun was when kitty brought us a live present when my daughter was a toddler. My daughter took the live mouse away from kitty, and I freaked.

Katie Cat is back at her post, in front of the couch, waiting for the mousie to come out of hiding.
