My basement has been taken over by crickets
These bastards

I walk down the stairs and they start popping all over the place. When my wife wants to exercise I have to clear the way for her first. I laid out some duct tape sticky side up and there were 8 big fat ones on it this AM. Thanks Attorney General Ashcroft for the recommendation, that duct tape sure came in handy to catch these terrorist insects.

1. That must be a big basement.
The wicket by itself is 22 yards long, and the field is much larger beyond that.

2. same @#$%%^ things here

THOUSANDS outside and many getting in here, too.........and up until just 3 or 4 years ago I never even saw one of these things before. Always had the big brownish/black Jiminy type crickets.
I have seen these called 'mole' crickets and 'camel' crickets. I suppose I should google them and find out about them.

I do know they drive the dog berserk.

3. It's time to get a gecko!
Then you can get a cat to chase the gecko, and a dog to chase the cat......

4. We had those in the south
they like damp places or water sources. The exterminator had to come out a few times a year to get them and the palmetto bugs.

Ick...

6. Throw in a few brazillian lady bugs and
you'd have our basement.

It's the one mofo cricket that hides somewhere in the bedroom and serenades you half the night.

7. Get a cat!
We had that problem at my parents' house in TN until we got a certain cat who loooved to eat 'em. We had other cats that showed no interest until we brought home this straggly little black kitten who immediately went to town on the little buggers. She's now a big fattie (but with a nice shiny coat from all the protein) and they don't have any more crickets except sometimes they'll find her munching on an unfortunate one that snuck in.

In addition, my girlfriend has a cricket problem in her apartment and her cat likes to kill them. He won't eat them but he will dispatch them. Unfortunately for me I have a roach problem and cats know better than to eat those foul things. :P

9. Maybe I can rent a cat
I do have a very large spider hiding in a hole in the floor but he can only take care of so many.

10. I HATE those things. We had them in the garage.
They hop TOWARDS you, not away from you, so it is a pretty creepy experience.
