My favorite kitty died...

Waffles was almost 14...not bad for the son of a stray who decided to adopt us. He had such a sweet disposition...I never saw him lash out at any of the other animals. He was always careful to keep his claws sheathed when he walked across our laps. Now and then, he'd bring me a mouse that decided to winter on the back porch.

I'm glad we have other pets to help us through; but this one is going to be really tough. Even my old crotchety blue Persian loved Waffles.

15. He was unusually clingy the last couple of nights...

He's always been a snuggle cat; but he was really obsessive about it the night before last. Then he wouldn't eat last night. He just didn't come to dinner. I looked for him and couldn't find him anywhere. Then, when I got up this morning I looked around again, and found him in the basement. He wasn't there when I looked last night. He must have gone off to die...

That is like losing a child. My baby is 14 years old and
we cuddle like mom and baby. One night, Axie was sound
asleep. He was having REM sleep and dreaming that I was
his mother. He was kneading my shoulder, bunched up a
bit of my t shirt and started to nurse it. When he goes,
I will be completely devastated. He's my baby. He even
