What to do.....???
Ok, so for my EXPO-writing class I had to read a book of poetry by Xue Di.

My assignment is to write him a 2-page (minimum) letter about the book, touching on such subjects as (but not limited to):

- particularities/idiosyncracies of the voice behind the poems
- structural observations about the poems
- themes emerging from the work
- how the poems are connected (or not) to each other

yadda yadda yadda

Big problem: Despite having read every page, twice, out-loud, I have no idea what the author is trying to say in any of this work. I honestly can't make heads or tails out of any of it. (I fully admit that this has been a pretty miserable week for me, and that my frame of mind may be clouding my vision when it comes to this work.)

Now, thus far, I've attended all sessions, and my written work has me at a solid B in the class, so I'm pretty sure she (the instructor) thinks I have a reasonable grasp on writing.

I'm afraid, though, that if I walk in w/ nothing, she'll assume I didn't read it.

This is not a major paper in the class, so I don't imagine it will have a huge effect on my grade.

If I send her an email and explain how lost I am, attend class and hear what some of the others see in the work, and then turn the assignment in next week, would that be so terrible?
