Where I was last weekend
I spent a couple of days in Green Lake, WI., relaxing and doing not much of anything but eating, napping, drinking coffee, and a few short stints at a WiFi cafe checking out the lounge. I go up there twice a year with a large group of guys, mostly from the Milwwaukee area, and we rent 2 buildings from the American Baptist Assembly, which has 1000's of acres on the lake.

http://www.glcc.org/Green%20Lake%20Story.htm

Green Lake:

237 ft. deep (Deepest natural inland lake in Wisconsin)
100 ft. average depth
27.3 miles of shoreline
796' Elevation
7.3 miles long
2 miles wide
11.5 sq. miles
7,325 acres surface area
95% spring fed
Empties into Fox River through Puckyan River
Principle inlet is Silver Creek
Indian name is Day Cho Lah
Trophy size fish are: Trout, Northern, Walleye, Bass, & Perch

It is absolutely gorgeous up there.

Something about fish in the sea, fish or cut bait, hooks lines and sinkers...

Yep, that's all I've got. :D :hi:

6. That IS a very nice place! I've stayed there a number of times,
and played the golf course once.

I love Green Lake (the lake). Done a lot of sailing on that lake, too!

And it's no longer the Baptist Assembly grounds, it's the Green Lake Conference Center - though it's still owned by the Baptists, and they STILL don't allow alcohol, the fucks.

Of course, I took alcohol anyway. :-)

In my youth, that's where the Wisconsin Conference UCC had their Spring Youth Events. I was even there this summer for a couple days!

7. Oh, wow
That sounds idyllic...and the pictures bear it out. Next time, come pick me up on the way, 'kay? I can even bait hooks.

Not that I want to...but a gal's gotta earn her keep, after all. I can also drink coffee, nap, go for walks and relax.

I think.

14. Way better than
Green Lake in North Carolina . . . where we went cabin camping once. The lake wasn't GREEN, it wasn't even a LAKE! It was a big "pond" that was muddy red. We took my (then 16 yo) daughter's boyfriend with us. The cabin was tiny (and dirty) & only one tiny bedroom.

To top it all off - there was a really really BAD Elvis impersonator (chubby/flashy elvis) who started singing to my daughter and put a red scarf around her neck at the cantina. She was SOOOOOO embarrassed! I was kinda hoping my daughter would marry that kid just so we could surprise her with an Elvis impersonator at their wedding. (Besides, that kid was a lot better than the guy she's dating now. . . sigh)

Anyway - thanks for posting that. We're living in Madison now and would probably have never gone to someplace named Green Lake ever again otherwise. It looks great.
