The movie should've been shot. I can't think of a death bad enough for the show.

It's not just about high school football. It's about social attitudes and politics.

I'll purchase it then. I keep considering it but end up always putting it back.

4. I found the move to be very disturbing. |

I know football is God in the south, but there was something about that movie that was really freaky. Maybe it was Billy Bob Thornton's character -- I kept feeling like he was going to take a bat and beat the crap out of the kids. :scared:

People in Odessa freakin' hated the author.
Supposedly, the movie was done with "local input" so it wouldn't have the same effect. :eyes:

Be interesting to see the differences between the movie and the book.

11. Didn't know there was a show |

Watched the movie a while back...it didn't really do anything for me, even though I like Billy Bob's acting. Kind of a non-event, it was, though maybe I should give it another chance after a bit of time's passed (some movies are like that, I guess).
It's not that I'm not into watching sports -- I'm not into watching sports, though, as it turns out -- because other sport-centered or sport-related movies have appealed to me (strong character studies and the like, like Cinderella Man and the classic Breaking Away, for example), and I enjoyed stuff like Radio and kinda liked Hoosiers when I finally watched it (the same week as I watched Friday Night Lights, actually).
