The industry assumption is that women want plotlines and high production values and men just want to see hot sex.

Personally I don't watch porn for plot or production values (although I don't want the latter to insult me as a purchaser) and the one thing I've learned the hard way is that anything marketed toward women or couples will bore me to tears.

I got a pay per view cable porn movie once. There was kinda a plot (I'm of the "if I wanted to see a story I'd have rented a real movie" school on that) and the sex was vaugely suggested at best and very vanilla. Not hot. It was horrible and not at all sexy. :(
