Does Jeff get to show? Not offered on the poll but the big question is WHO WILL WIN? http://www.bravotv.com/Project_Runway/

1. I want Michael to win but I think Uli is going to take it all. |
|
I like her runway show the best based on the pictures I saw from Fashion Week.

3. The teaser made it look like Jeff wasn't allowed to show |
|
so being that this is Project Runway clearly he DOES get to show.
Their teasers are something else-it took four weeks to get through all the ones before the season started.

Like Kara Janx last year. Just because he got to show doesn't mean he isn't out of the competition, although I suspect you're right.

6. I think he does get to show... |
|
because in some of the fashion mags' Fashion Week coverage they did talk a little about his collection. I assume that means they got to see it. Whether or not he's a legit contender is another question.
I missed last week though, so I don't know quite what the controversy/effects of it are, or if the magazine folks just saw a "dummy" show.
So assuming his stuff still counts, I say Jeff takes it because:
1. In the magazine I saw with a few pieces from each collection Michael's stuff looked kind of cheap--not his usual outstanding work. Which, if that is the case, is too bad because I really like him and wouldn't mind seeing him win.
2. Laura's stuff is well done but boring--suitable for socialites of a Certain Age, but nothing fashion forward about it really. Plus I just don't like her and don't want to see her win.
3. Uli might be a contender but I think she's going to get caught up in her billowy print obsession. Nice for a few pieces, but not necessarily something that's worth a whole collection. It's not versitile enough.
4. Jeff 's stuff (again, from what I saw in the mag.), looked modern, interesting, risky but a calculated risk in terms of styling and color choice, and it looked like something that A.) could be translated from high fashion to a ready to wear thing fairly easily. (Think Target knockoffs) and B) looked like something I'd see in hipster magazines and magazines like Bazaar or Vogue as an example of "where fashion is going now" or something like that. I'm thinking of that stripey green thing--I'd buy a knockoff of that.
So yeah. There's my take.

4. I think Michael should win. |
|
His clothes are just the most appealing. All the designers are really good, but Michael is consistently good. Laura has good taste, but she does have old lady taste. Uli definitely has made a niche for herself. Jeffrey is a wild card, tries different things and livens it up, which is a really good trait. I'm the most interested in seeing Jeffrey's work, and in a way, he's my favorite. He's the best one for TV. But I don't think his clothes have the broadest appeal. Michael's style seems to be the most wearable.

Its going to be either Laura or Uli. Although I liked Michaels collection, I have read nothing but disdain and disappointment for his final collection. We'll see. I'm on the west coast so I'm sure I'll read a spoiler. which is ok for me.......
after that Top Chef the series premiere, season two!!

I wasn't watching the episode too closely, so maybe they showed the clothes when I was looking away, but, I thought we only got to see a couple of things from each person.... Jeffrey is difficult, but in my opinion, most of the people who got his wrath kinda asked for it....;)

8. Would like to see Jeff win it all |
|
Laura sends the exact same dress down the runway..every time. I am never surprised by her.
Uli's designs are nice, but they are the same. I have not seen her branch out much. Which is sad. I think she could do really well if she was willing to diversify somewhat.
Michael can make some good looking clothes, but he is not high fashion. That does not mean he isn't talented. I just think that he has a more laid back style than what the judges are looking for. (His show was very hoochie mamma to me.)
Jeff as an overall concept that I love. He was bold and not afraid to stir the kettle a little bit. Love that about him. His couture dress was made of COTTON, who makes a fine gown out of cotton?!!!!
**The whole controversy is that Laura doesn't think that Jeff made all of his line. She thinks he outsourced. The example they site in the show is the Leather pants...does anyone remember the pants he made from when he was teamed w/ Allison & Keith? They were great and fit perfectly. He did those in 2 days!!! The guy has talent and accusations, such as the one that Laura is making, indicate to me FEAR. He has a good cohesive collection and Laura is shaking in her spiked high heels.

She wonders how he could do all that in the time alotted, because she got less done. Well, the fact that she had a bunch of children running around her home is not going to help her be efficient. Jeffrey had the luxury of leaving his child at home when he worked on his clothes.

That's what his company does, custom leather garments for rock stars.
It's called Cosa Nostra, and he's got a lot of really famous rock star clients. I never doubted he made those clothes himself. Jeez, Laura hand beaded 12 garments and she doesn't think Jeffrey could make a pair of leather pants?

I have to say, Michael's collection sucked. (I want to say 'sucked ass' but that isn't lady-like). It was pretty disappointing I thought.
I was surprised Jeff got it after going over budget. Laura reminded me of Wendy from season one, not her personality but her kind of skillz but no thrills kind of thing...that's all I think.

I didn't see season 1 though.
My untrained eye thought that Uli had by far the best show but I think they gave it to Jeff because of his body of work-Uli screwed the whole process up by winning the last competition and therefore got invited to the end (my opinion).

Anyone who works in a professional capacity knows that the behavior Jeffrey exhibited towards Angela's mother in a previous episode would get all of us FIRED. His comments about the mom, Laura and other women on the show were offensive. For him to "win" the competition is beyond unbelievable.

27. What's with the whining from both mother and daughter? |
|
And what's up with her not wearing blue? It's not like it's going to hurt her. She went into that with a whiny attitude, not wanting to give Jeff half a chance. Trying to guilt him, "I feel like I'm holding you back..." It's not like she was paying for the damned things. It was a competition, and it was his design. The other moms didn't whine up the place when they got their designs.
He was a bit rough with her, but she could have tried harder too.
I thought his collection was stunning, and fit his inspiration perfectly. Uli was a close second. Michael was disappointing and Laura was Laura, old and expected.

Absolutely.
If Jeffrey is such a petulant, immature person that he will deliberately set out to make a client miserable, he shouldn't be working in any industry. At all.
"Project Runway"'s refusal to address this, and their crowning him the "winner", makes me believe that they're rewarding the bad behavior.

Less than an hour of footage from a couple of days (?) worth of film footage.
I agree that his ouburts toward Angela and her mom were immature and undignified, but I really think that they were trying to sabotage him. This situation wouldn't happen exactly this way in real life. You can't compare a reality show competition like this, to the real world.

41. Angela and her mother were being manipulative, IMO |
|
Angela's mom was playing the "poor me" "he's such a meanie", to make Jeffrey look bad. Then when Angela made those comments on stage, Angela made it clear that she was just trying to turn the sentiment against Jeffrey. That was a bad move for her, and I think it backfired for her. It's obvious both mother and daughter wanted to make him look bad.

Laura and Uli are good at what they do but everything is the same.
not into Jeffrey's personally but he did show he could be creative and good at making the clothes also.
they all have a good future in fashion. Michael and Jeffrey will probably get a lot of requests from famous people to make something for them. Laura and Uli would do well in making things that many women will want. Laura for evening wear and Uli for casual daytime .

Her clothes are beautiful, classic and sexy without being trashy. I read "Vogue" for years when I was younger; her designs remind me so much of the designers popular at that time -- Oscar de la Renta, Albert Nipon and Carolina Herrera.
I also loved Uli's prints and her sense of color; her designs are flattering and would be something most women would be able to wear. Uli's outfit on the plus-sized mom, as opposed to Jeffrey's, was lovely. I'd buy that blouse in a minute, and I'd be happy to wear it!
I'm sure they're both going to do well in the future.

absolutely the best designer won!!!
he has great innovative ideas -- he's fresh -- cutting edge -- and his clothes fit.
uli pulled out a resort look that was GORGEOUS -- but it was definitely a very regional look.
michael and laura did exactly what i thought they would do and nothing more.
though laura will have a good clientele -- there is certainly call for her work.
michael needs experience -- and he needs to see some other stuff to widen his palette.
i love this show -- and it worked out just the way it should.

I believe I have said every week that Jeffrey was the best designer- and so he was!
I thought that Laura and Jeffrey both did really good shows. Laura's clothes are beautiful, she just didn't manage to break out of her sequin/scoop neck cocktail dress mode, and whoa- too many feathers on some garments!
I personally don't gravitate to Uli's aesthetic, although I can see her appeal. She's got a kind of Versace look. She didn't really manage to innovate in her show either. Michael really dropped the ball with a messy, overly overtly sexed up and rather incoherent show. As LynneSin likes to say - too hoochie mama! Not classy! Well, he's young.
I love Jeffrey's looks. He's by far the most innovative designer of this season, and while he had some clunkers along the way, his runway show was definitely the most creative and coherent. I would love to have at least half of his outfits, including the striped zipper dress, the white leather pants, the swimsuit and that great top with long ribbons. His only bad outfit was the blue baby doll mini dress, it was kind of ugly and didn't really blend with the other pieces. I was so glad that because he went over budget he decided to drop the wigs. All those platinum blond wigs would have distracted from his clothes and potentially ruined his show. Jeffrey's designs remind me of pieces I have by designers like Gaultier, Morgan le Fay and Roberto Cavalli. Couture rock n'roll!! I love it!
As far as the mom episode, I read an interview with Jeffrey's mom in which she said the episode didn't show all that was going on behind the scenes, and she implied that Angela and her mom were not being as pleasant as they were made to appear during the episode (which wasn't really that pleasant). I am sure those two were trying to sabotage Jeffrey, although he should have been more polite to the mom, even though she was a whiny bitch.
All four designers should find a nice niche in the fashion world. Laura will make lovely cocktail dresses for mature women (hey, that includes me, and I'd wear her dresses!) to sell at Neiman Marcus. Michael will make it big in the hip-hop, hoochie mama world. Uli will make great resort collections. Jeffrey has the most potential to do real couture collections.

52. It's all subjective. No one who hates Jeffrey's designs |
|
will agree with the win, including me. I have no idea why the judges picked him, but it's not because he's a good designer. His win did not change my mind. Those clothes were ill-fitting. I thought the line looked nice when he was showing Tim what he'd accomplished, and thought maybe I had been wrong all along. But during the runway, his models all looked so schlumpy in those clothes. And the long dress looked like it could have been at home in Wendy Pepper's line from season one. He's good at what he does for his niche, and I think if he'd fit those clothes better, it would have been a sound win. But, Uli was absolutely robbed. She was heads above the other designers this season. I would have put Laura in second. Jeffry and Michael would have tied for last.

But I thought Uli had the best collection. After watching their shows, I would have picked Uli to win, although all were pretty good, in their own way.
Why they picked Jeffrey: I bet it's because his collection is the best fit with Elle magazine. If it was Vogue magazine, Laura would have won. If it was Vibe magazine, Michael would have won.

I didn't consider that, but from what I've seen of Elle magazine, that makes sense. I really liked Michael, too, and was disappointed to see his collection. I'd had him as a favorite to win. I didn't think it measured up to his overall performance for the whole season.

51. Laura's collection reminds me of my bosses collection. |

She has a classic design. But I did not like the sparkle outfit that her main model wore. Too shiny.
