Poll question: How do you pronounce the word "heinous"? |
|
If I hear that word mispronounced one more time, I'm gonna go "nucular" on someone.... :grr: :nuke:

|
...and I've heard it abused by non-Southerners too. :yoiks: But mostly it's a Southern thing. "Nucular", on the other hand, seems to be universal.

|
(She's the same one who hit my friend's car three separate times in their driveway...) She and my friend were driving down a busy street in Stamford, and his mom saw a sign that said, "Pizza To Go". She looked puzzled, and he asked her, "What's wrong?" She said, "Where is Pizza Togo?" :spray: It was beside a travel agency, and she thought there was a place named Pizza in the country of Togo. :yoiks: Does your mom know her by any chance???? :P

Therefore, it ends up with more syllables than it needs and gets totally twisted.

is silent. :o
"'twere an 'einous crime, it were..."
A tad disconcerting.
I pronunciate it the right way, of course, as might be expectorated of someone who indulges in social intercourse as good as me.
