Is Johnny Mathis gay?
I didn't know that, in fact I thought he had paternity suit problems.

1. Well, if he has paternity suit problems, then he's probably not gay
Edited on Wed Oct-18-06 03:51 PM by Orrex
In fact, he's more likely to be sad than gay in that case.

31. Everyone in his entourage was gay
when I did lighting. His lighting director would sing along over the headset system, only with alternative lyrics.

It wasn't just Sinatra. I heard a lot of people call him that.

and I wasn't sure. Didn't really care. But I mentioned it to my mother, and one night we watched him on The Tonight Show. No offense to my gay DU buds, but the guy was flamin.' He all but took off in flight. He had his knees squeezed together (that's ALWAYS a sign), and when the knees weren't pressed he had both feet in the chair. M'kay? My mother is still heart broken. So what think you all?

60. I don't know - why do people care about any information about
celebrities? The American public are equal-opportunity Nosy Nellies when it comes to celebrities - their loves, their marriages, their divorces, their pregnancies, their clothes, their homes.

25. I don't know, but I do know he's a cross dresser.
An acquaintance of mine, who owned a high end dress shop, was once called to his hotel room to show him a selection of dresses. Celebrities often do this where the shop keeper takes a rack of clothes to their private residence for them to try them on without being harrassed by fans.

Well, she thought he was buying some evening gowns for a girlfriend. It turns out they were for him. Once she got over her surprise, he tried them on, modeled them and asked her which ones she thought he looked best in.
This has been a well kept secret except until now that I opened my big mouth

However, in this day and age, it isn't going to get him ostracized from any circles where it would have happened back then.

She was just amazing...

Her rendition of "what are you doing for the rest of your life"--- from early in her career-- is now being used on a diamond jewelry commercial on tv. If you haven't heard it (her version), it is well worth it... I think ITunes has it, as well...

53. Dusty was called the "White Lady of Soul" and introduced the Motown sound
to England. She had a pretty rough time after her hey day in the sixties, but her voice was one in a million. Unique in much the same way as Johnny Mathis. People have to understand that when we talk about any celebrity being Gay, that has either come out on his or her own, or been outed after death, we are talking about them from a place of pride. It's not a sensationalizing piece of information or gossip to other Gay people, it's a "They were GREAT and they were Gay too! It's a call out of love, not pidgeonholing or mean spirited in any way. It's now forty or more years later and I still love to listen to both of them.

As long as they're consenting and not cheating, there is no problem.

If there is infidelity... don't get me started. I have no kind words for cheaters, and it's not because I don't often get dates. :eyes: (some people DO have integrity, even in this sodding day and age.)

59. I love him, and never thought one way or another about him being gay.
But a few years ago I saw him do a special on A & E, and although he wasn't swishing, I was pretty sure he was gay. Funny thing is, my RW sister always liked him. Him and Pat Boone. She hated Elvis.

I love his music. The Twelfth of Never gives me chills. If you are too young to know who he is, his version of Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire is vastly superior to Nat King Cole's.

And who cares if he's gay? I liked Richard Chamberlain and Rock Hudson too!

63. A friend of mine met him, years ago.
My friend's a bass player & was living in LA at the time. He & some pals met Johnny Mathis on the golf course & he invited them to his house. Apparently Johnny was friendly & a total gentleman--to some guys very low on the music biz totem pole.

NOTHING "gay" occurred. Of course Johnny Mathis is as gay as a tree full of parrots. He's also a fine singer. But he's apparently a pretty good guy, too.
