LDS guys just showed up on my porch. |
|
They shook hands with me, introducing themselves as "Brother" So-and-so. I said, "Oh. Nice to meet you." Then they looked at each other and didn't say anything. So I helped them move the conversation along.
"You're evangelizing tonight?" "Well, sort of. We're from the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints." I smiled and said, "We're not interested, thank you. Have a nice evening." "Oh. Ok. Thanks." And they left. They had cute ties.
My older son wanted me to let him scare them away. I asked him to restrain himself. Poor kids.

9. When I was in junior high, I might have had a crush on them. |
|
I'm not sure they were 18 yet. They'd better stay away from Foley.

So you invite these guys in, and ask them, "Do you have any blotter acid? Windowpane?" And when they look all confused, you ask them, "Aren't you the LSD guys?" and they say, "No, we're LDS." And you reply, a la Emily Litella, "Oh. Never mind."

21. I read it that way, too. |

Which is more mind altering?... I'd say the freaky religious cult known as Mormonism.

He's nice, even if he is extremely naive about many aspects of life.

He thought it was the feds. But I've never seen a G-man with a shiny baby-blue necktie before.

They have a funny as hell religion, but they're nice enough people.

It's not the people that are weird...It's the religion.

12. Last time they came to my house, I was doing yardwork. |
|
They asked if they could help. I put them right to work. We had to talk religion for a while, but I got all my weeds pulled. I did give them some snacks, though. True story.

I don't mind talking religion with people as long as they don't try to tell me I'm going to hell for not worshipping as they worship.

I'm always dissapointed when people tell stories about being rude jerks when proselytizers show up.

And they respected the fact that I wasn't interested.
Besides, I liked their ties.
