Okay, the armed stand-off from last night turned into gunfire about 1am.
It went on for about forty-five minutes. This was less than 100 feet from my back door! Shit! And before the gunfire started, there was an explosion of some sort. My wife and I thought it was the police throwing a teargas bomb into the house or something, but when I talked about it to a friend at work, he suggested that it might have been a meth-lab explosion. Well, it would certainly explain the hulabaloo. Plus, in Puyallup, meth labs are thicker on the ground than anywhere else in the state.

So I got very little sleep last night. Driving past the house in question this morning, there was police tape all the way around it. Not surprised. The only thing that has surprised me in all of this is not seeing any mention of it on the news; any news. Nada. Nothing. Zip.

2. Nothing?
Although you should probably be glad. A few years ago, the house next door to ours caught fire and it made the news...and for the next few days, people were driving by to look at it.

Folks have nothing better to do? And if they were willing to go out of their way to drive by a house that caught fire with nobody home (and didn't burn to the ground...lotta damage, but mostly to the back -- from the front you could barely tell) because of a faulty gas valve, imagine what they'd do to play looky-loo if there'd been a shooting...

Try and get some sleep tonight...and I'm sorry all this went on at your back door. That had to have been terrifying!!!

4. Thanks for the hug, Triple R. Not terrifying, but certainly disconcerting.
It just seemed so out-of-character for our neighborhood.

8. I would've been petrified.
:scared:

There's just something about gunfire within, oh, say...earshot? That just does a number on my nerves.

9. I did seven years in the Army. Gunfire is small-potatoes.
Nearly getting knocked on the head by a Scud missile in the Gulf...now THAT was terrifying! :scared:

11. Heh...I guess it's all a matter of perception...
Potato, po-tah-toe. I can see where you'd barely bat an eyelash.

Still...it's one thing in a military situation, it's an entire 'nuther thing in your back yard.

7. Hopefully they didn't murder two cops either and wound another.

13. Or execute one cop and one K-9, and wound another cop.

14. I consider the K-9s cops, as do the police officers I know.
