My roommate's girlfriend interrupted and talked a bunch, so I might have missed something (or maybe I'm just slow and missed something).

I think the hatch implosion damaged the space/time continuum. Desmond and possibly John and Eko are out of sync.

I think one of the possible explanations is that the Island is within a pocket of space/time separate from our own universe. A miniverse, tentatively connected to ours. It explains alot of stuff, but it also would allow distortions of time. Maybe 'time' is already different in this miniverse. Maybe time passes slower there, or faster. Either way if the electromagnet had something to do with anything, it may have mucked with his head like you said.

And there could very well be more. You can watch the episode on the ABC website, but here's a summary: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Further_Instructions

Last week's was alright too.
I think I know what my problem is: I just don't care about Jack, Kate, or Sawyer all that much.
Any episode with less of them and more of Locke, Eko, Hurley, Sayid, Sun, Jin, etc., the really interesting characters, is a better episode.

Ok I can dig that. I like clues too, and this episode gave some clues.
I'm beginning to lean towards the island being inside a pocket of space/time with different physical rules than normal space. The powerful electromagnet drew the plane in when Desmond didn't do the numbers. Helps explain the Nigerian drug plane, and the Black Rock, and Desmond (an accomplished Sailor) not being able to get away from the Island. There's one connection to the outside world out of the pocket, and it's the direction Michael and Walt sailed.
If it's a pocket of space/time related to the electromagnet, Desmond may have gotten unhinged or popped around to know what he knew, time being relative.

Just for the Boston scene alone...last week's flashback was better as well...as well as Kate's ass. This week was good but didn't seem too interesting...I wasn't really worried for Eko whatsoever...too predictable in that sense. The flashback was interesting...
