Why did God make martinis so damn tasty? |
|
Enquiring martini drinkers want to know. Especially ones that have discovered a new tasty gin named Junipero.

1. I thought if it was with gin--it was a gimlet |
|
I thought martinis were with vodka:shrug:

2. You're sooooo uneducated. |
|
A real martini is made with gin, although some swine make them with vodka. A gimlet is a martini with cocktail onions, in lieu of olives.

Junipero? I assume it's named after the blessed Friar Junipero Serra, founder of the oldest mission in California, San Juan Capistrano, located just outside San Francisco. He's a state hero, represents California in the Statuary Hall of the US Capitol and is widely considered likely to be canonized, not withstanding the furor over his zeal for converting Native Americans by the sword.
I love a good gin, I really love one with a neat namesake. You said it martinis well, how does it gin and tonic? That's the measure of a gin...vermouth can hide too much in a martini to really assess a gin. I mean the star of a martini is really the vermouth, gin is there for volume and to cut the vermouthiness.

10. It's made by the Anchor brewing people out there |
|
so probably named after them, but I'm no expert on that, just on what tastes good.
As far as what other drinks it tastes good in, don't know. Haven't tried any others. Just got the bottle and only made martinis so far. But to be honest, it's the kind of stuff I wouldn't mix with anything else. I'd use the tanqueray for that.

A matter of personal taste, I suppose. My favorite poison is 12 YO Cuervo Gold.

Not that I don't love tequila as much as the next guy but mass-production tequila is to real tequila what Sanka is to coffee. Buy real tequila, not crap. At the rate of harvest for agave and the slow maturation, you may not be able to get the real thing in another 30 years. Enjoy while you can.

Every once in a while I'll go for the tequila, but usually it's vodka or gin for me. :)
