I need some help here: who are the Repug celebrities?
I know that Charlton Heston and Patricia Heaton are Repugs, but earlier today I saw a thread that said something akin to "despite the fact that they're Repugs, I like Lynyrd Skynyrd," and I had NO IDEA that they were Repugs. So, just a minute ago, I saw a thread asking something like "who are the coolest pop icons?" and I was afraid to answer because I'm really not up on this sort of stuff and didn't want to take a flaming.

Pretend I don't know anything about this, especially since I really don't. Can anyone help me out here? Movie stars, musucians, whatever - who's on THAT side of the political coin?

Thanks in advance,

Zavulon

1. Bruce Willis
Edited on Wed Oct-18-06 11:00 PM by Chan790
The CR across the hall from me in college had a pic of Willis with Bush and himself from a GOP fundraiser.

7. No...
apparently he used to be really politically-apathetic, but went right with a vengeance after 9/11, donating money and making appearances at these sorts of things. Not a fundie GOPer, a hawkish one...probably more of a true libertarian with a strong national security bent from what my dorm-mate described.

40. Not quite
He and Demi supported Dukakis in 1988 so he was a Democrat back then. However, he ended up supporting Bush in 1992 because he was offended by Clinton's talk about rich people paying more taxes which he thought was a put-down of people like him who worked hard and became successful.

check it out

http://www.newsmeat.com

you can search celebrities, media types, sports stars, business executives, or any joe schmoe who has donated in the last 10 or 15 years (though they've got special lists for the folks i've mentioned, look on the right side of the page a little ways down)

I don't know about the rest of that list as I haven't looked at it yet..

but I think I remember reading about how he's trying to make more liberal-values films as a actor, director and producer...like the one about the reporter trying to prove the guy about to be executed is innocent. I don't recall the name, it bombed anyways.

so have a lot of other people...and many of them have nothing to do with his political beliefs. You have to admit he is kinda annoying. I thinkt he next poster down is actually correct...that he's more of a libertarian, albeit not one of those really-a-republican libertarians.

59. Alice Cooper is (has been, a long time, but still mostly a dude) and Clint
is not. Just like the Lynyrd Skynyrd thing, the false categorizing as Republicans (or even neocons) of people like Clint Eastwood, Kurt Russell, and a couple of others seems a DU perennial.

and he starred in the TV-move grade film of the "Left Behind" series because for free because he believed in the message of the work. Insane Jesus-freak. Don't get me wrong, as a member of a marginal religion I support everybody's right to whatever they want to believe, even if I find it offensive.
