ZombyCoffee: Habeas Corpus Memorial Blend
:evilfrown:

:donut:

Sorry my DU friends, it's just hard to summon a smile this morning when I glance at the headlines. I saw Keith Olbermann's Special Comment last night, and my sadness has overcome my disgust and anger. So what to do now? I keep caring and fighting in spite of harboring thoughts that have, in previous times, allowed me to walk away from political involvement for indefinite periods.

Perhaps one day soon a case will be brought before the courts, and these rancid dictatorial 'laws' will be struck down by the Supreme Court.

Or a new Congress will see fit to overturn them, shrugging off the lies that we Democrats and progressives "hate America" and "support the terrorists", or are "traitors".

In the long autumn shadow of the morning news, these seem like distant, hazy, fever dreams.

So what to do?

I do know that I can't let myself roll over when our core freedoms have been perverted and abolished. I must banish thoughts of giving up and walking away. The allure of escaping must yield to the necessity of working and fighting.

I am going to down this carafe of coffee. Join me?

1. Yes, thank you.
I appreciate hearing this. Though I have no answers, I take some strength in hearing someone else's voice and knowing that we feel a similar stunned disbelief at the woeful corner we've turned. And that, ZombyWoof---with the coffee---is enough to keep me believing....

2. Morning, Drum
It also helps to vent in GD a bit. That arrogant twit Jonah Goldberg admits now that the war he cheerleaded for (but never put himself in danger for, of course) was a mistake. I should email him what I posted in GD... hmmm...
