7. I get bow ties.
those two bozos don't get the right size ties. they're too small for their enlarged heads. A competent clerk at a good store would steer them to slightly larger bow ties. a real dedicated clerk would show them how to tie them properly. an extraordinary clerk would asphyxiate them accidentally.

I wear bow ties when I need to wear a tie. I've got a largish head and a large neck. There are a couple of tie makers who make bow ties that I can wear, extra fabric, extra cost. I look for those ties at thrift stores.

27. Personal style trumps fashion IMO
I've never worn one with a tux, hope that I never will. I have a matte black tie and everybody I know knows that if they want me in a tux, it'll be with that tie or not at all. So I'm percieved as a maverick, someone who marches to their own drum, and a trendsetter. Someone unafraid of risk.

I've been told that's sexy. So much for fashion.

10. They appear to be a public service
A warning to all who approach: here lurks a sanctimonious turd. Wearers are also noted for their meticulous organization of socks in drawers.

14. Or they are tweedy shlubs from the 50's.
My dad wore a bow tie and wore it well and he was not a sanctimonious turd, thanks, nor were his socks in order. It depends on the bow tie wearers generation. The tucker era types (like who wears ties anyhow unless they have to) are generally jerks.

12. I might take Tucker Carlson a lot more seriously if he didn't wear one
Before I knew who he was I used to make fun of the "newsanchor who wears that dumb bowtie".

I also think Tucker needs a different haircut. He looks like a total dork. I thought TV people were supposed to be more attractive than normal people? Maybe that doesn't apply if you're a Repuke.

31. I remember when I was interviewing for airline jobs,
and I read "Dress for Success." I'll never forget the comments on bow ties. The author basically said they are only appropriate for people who are so intimidating/project so much power that they need to take wardrobe steps that will make them seem more impotent and less intimidating.

Personally, I don't think George Will needs a bowtie to accomplish that.

But never of their own volition. Part of their jazz band uniforms; tuxedo shirts and pants, vests and bow ties.

I'll have to find some pics...

Just so's I can be a proper mother and embarrass them by posting bow tie pics for the world to see.

:D

43. I don't get "Ties" in general. It's a meaningless piece of cloth...
...hanging around someone's neck, that has no legitimate purpose. That "fashion statement" will one day be gone, like the huge ruffles around the neck. It's ridiculous.
