Question from a relative newbie re copycat threads
Is there a reliable way to figure out which thread they're based on without scrolling through pages of threads? I've seen what seems to be two dozen or more "Is ... gay?" threads and have no idea which thread they're referring to.

Thanks,

Zavulon

1. Save yourself the trouble.
Don't bother.

3. That's my first inclination, actually, but after seeing so many
copycat threads on this topic, curiousity got the better of me. I usually blow off these threads, but in this case there's a LOT.

2. It doesn't matter and it's not worth the time.
They're rarely based in anything important.

4. Sometimes you'll notice the original, sometimes not.
Sometimes you'll answer the copycat and not know it was a copycat.

Sometimes the copycat will generate as much conversation as any "regular" thread.

5. I think copycat threads
should be banned all together.

Sorry if I am no fun but enough is enough sometimes.

9. As a newcomer to DU,
it's not my place to say that I AGREE WITH YOU ONE HUNDRED PERCENT. Can't say that. I'm new here.

14. Appreciate that.
I understand why sex threads are banned given the potential room for abuse, but I don't understand why such a waste of bandwith such as copycat threads is allowed. I'd understand it if any of them were funny, but I've never seen a funny one so far.

That said, I'm here for free and am not even a donor yet (although I've had a good enough time here that I will soon be one), so you understand my reticence regarding the matter. I do, however, really appreciate your post. :)

:hi:

16. There's been a few funny ones
but sometimes the copycats get out of control and Page One gets filled with them.

I can't stand that.

19. As soon as
I see a funny one, I'll let you know. I'm sure there have been some, but a quick look at my profile (or post count) will tell you that I haven't been here that long - and in my brief tenure here, the ones I have noticed have been shockingly lame. At any rate, I'm glad I can express that in front of at least one veteran DUer without being carved up like a roast. :)

Thanks. :hi:

10. Didn't even think of that, but
I'm going to hope that other newbies won't bother. An "as a relative newbie..." thread would look sort of stupid started by people with thousands of posts, so that doesn't bother me.

Besides, the Cardinals just elimated the loathesome Mets, so even though I have no favorte team anymore I am ecstatic. :)

15. Oh, your title made it SOO much better than that!

As far as the Mets/Cardinals thing, I'm afraid I don't
really follow soccer that closely. sorry.

8. Its a relative question of sloppy rat treads
Was there a inalienable way to trigger which tread is racist existane, or which "IS .. HAY?"

Is there an idea they're related to?

Velen danke,
