playing?

I just hope it wasn't a shit team. That's embarrassing.

8. Eww.. it was to a shit team, then. How very sad!
I'm a Yankees guy myself, but the Mets come second!

If they'd lost to a team from a nice city, that's one thing - but to lose to a team from a shitty, disgusting nothing city? That's embarrassing.

19. They also had a worse regular season record
than Eight AL teams and Four other NL Teams

They played in a weak division.

Then again, the entire NL was weak.

Only six teams in the AL had fewer wins than the 4 NL Playoff teams.

I would think the best team in baseball could manage to win 90 games in such a soft division

29. 'The best' in anything is quite subjective
That's why we have championships instead of judging or voting.

Frequently, the best team doesn't win. But the winner wins, and there's nothing subjective about that.

35. A "shitty, disgusting, nothing city"?
I'm a downstate Illinois Cardinals fan, but is that really necessary? I find St. Louis to be much more charming and hospitible than Chicago - with much less arrogant baseball fans, to boot. Yes, I'm friends with plenty of Cubs fans, and they're fine people, but when it comes to baseball, how can fans of such a consistently shitty team be so full of themselves?

18. Congrats to the Cardinals
They took seven games to beat 1/3 of the Mets rotation.

Of course, the Mets have the worst "closer" in the game (Billy "Douchebag" Wagner), and their bats failed in this series. Beltran strikes out looking with the bases loaded in the 9th? That's fucking disgraceful.

Die hard Mets fan here. I watched game 6 (1986 WS) in my living room, with Shea visible from my window.

Compared to all of that, is a Mets loss really so depressing?

76. Sorry to hear
All my dawgs are out of the race (Cubs, Giants, A's) tho I'll probably lean Cards due to LaRussa.

82. You must not be a Cubs Fan first, then, lol
I don't know any Cubs fan who would ever, in any concievable situation, say, "I will root for the Cardinals".

Hell, last year was a bitch for them. It was either root for the hated Astros, or root for the White Sox...

LOL

86. Sox fan, Tigers are division rivals, but I am still staying with AL
so, If you're like me, you'll suck it up and root for the Cardinals rather than back some godless AL team, with their DH and all

84. The ONLY ONLY ONLY reason I root for the Cards is LaRussa
I was a big fan of him in the 90's when he ran the A's show.

89. Nope...it's a tie between Giants and Cubs
And I switched to the Giants after the A's fucked LaRussa over so badly back in the late 90's...it's been a while for me to come back...

Kind of like how I will still never forgive the Raiders for leaving Oakland.

93. It was hilarious watching all the Cubs fans implode on campus
It was fun rooting for the White Sox last year and watching all the Cubs fans piss about how much the Sox "still suck" even after they swept the Stros.

104. You can't exactly talk about sucking
Cardinals - 9 World Series victories, 17 appearances

Astros - 1 World Series appearance, 1 sweep

I could care less about the White Sox - I just rooted for them because I knew a Sox victory would piss Cubs fans off more. I dislike the Astros, I dislike the Yankees, but Christ on a crutch I hate the Cubs. I would root for ANY team no questions asked against the Cubs.

I'm a closet Mets fan from Pa. (partially cuz my Pirates have been in the dumper for eons.)

I feel for you all. It was hard to watch all those folks in the stands....

and my son and husband were rooting for the Cards. Sigh.

stick with the NL, or defect to the dark side of the AL?

i'm an Astros fan, so i hate the mets and the cards. but i'm a baseball fan, so i hate the AL. talk about a dilemma.

the other NY team.

At this point, I'm just going to root for nobody. Instead, I will bitch that it's interfering with my Fox shows.

I do admit I'm a much bigger football fan though. I'll definitely continue watching football even after the Giants are out.
