9. I remember before playoffs started
that sports writers across the country were literally frothing at the mouth over the possibility of another Subway Series. Hell, I bet even Bud Selig himself is pissed that it didnt happen!

12. Well, I have no interest in sports, but the idea that a panoply of gods
needs to be thanked for it not happening seems a little strange.

10. Finally, a team I WANT to win it is in for once!
Edited on Fri Oct-20-06 02:24 PM by EOO
Hated the White Sox last year, didnt care much for Boston and only rooted for the Marlins because they were playing the Yankees (and my home team, the Angels in '02, well that was a whole different story...) . Go Tigers! They're clearly the underdog in this series and have been since the playoffs started.

16. Worst. Series. Ever.
The two combatants backed into the playoffs with a combined record over their last 50 games of 41-59. The Tigers (19-31) have the worst record over the last 50 of ANY team ever to make the postseason -- and the Cards (22-28) are second. Zzzzzzzzzzz.

Did I mention the Cards nearly allowed the Houston Enrons to sleaze in ahead of them, complete with Babs "This is working out nicely for them" Bush behind home plate?! Go, uh, Tigers, I guess. Meanwhile there are lots of cool cable channels I haven't checked out, like the Style Channel, the Golf Channel...

19. It'll be worth it just to watch Pujols in a series.
He is, after all, the best player in the game today.

I'm admittedly biased -- I was going to college at U. of Missouri while McGwire was banging his way up to 70 HRs -- but I really would like to see a Cardinals win. After years of playoffs heartbreaks, they deserve it.

20. Wasn't Pujols already in a Series?
That's right. The year was 2004, and the Curse of the Bambino bit the dust, along with the Cards in four straight. As for Pujols, he went a quiet 5 for 15, without a single ribbie.

39. Wasn't Pujols already on Steriods?
I mean MLB sent some MIBs to StL to tell him he was hitting to many HRs early on and gave him a phantom hammie pull...

Anyway New York Teams suck and are bad for baseball.

27. Yet the Tigers still won 95 games
Because they were 40 games over .500 in early August. Can't suck that bad and get to 40 over .500.

We actually get to watch two TEAMS and appreicate the players for their skill rather than being subjected to a bunch of New York, celebrity obsessed soap opera bullshit. Although it would have been fun, as well as a first, to beat the crap out of the Yankees and the Mets in the same playoff run.

I, for one, won't be bored when I'm catching Craig Monroe's series winning home run in the left field seats in Game 6!

Go Tigers!

21. Cardinals are a classic world series team.
They belong there, it will be a great series to watch. This is a great way for St. Louis to break in their new stadium as well.

Houston sucks ass and so does any team from there.

26. Hey! I only bashed 'em because of Babs Bush!
The city of Houston did a magnificent job sheltering over 100,000 Katrina evacuees. It's hardly their fault that FEMA bungling has left so many of them still there.

As for Babs and the 'Stros, if Babs were behind home plate at Trustafarian Stadium for the Kennebunkport Lobsters games, then I'd be talkin' smack about the Lobsters instead, so there. :-)
