ZW's Autumn Crock Pot Recipe Thread |
|
Two nights ago, we enjoyed this easy number:
"Autumn Pork Chops"
6 pork chops, about 1/2 inch thick 1 medium acorn squash, unpeeled 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons margarine or butter, melted 3/4 cup brown sugar 3/4 teaspoon of Kitchen Bouqet browning and seasoning sauce 1/8 teaspoon of grated nutmeg 2 tablespoons of orange juice 1 teaspoon of grated orange peel
Cut squash into 6 crosswise slices. Arrange 3 chops at the bottom of the cooker. Top with squash slices, then add the 3 remaining chops, and the remaining squash slices. In a small bowl, combine the butter, brown sugar, browning sauce, nutmeg, orange juice, and orange peel. Spoon mixture over chops. Cover and cook on LOW for 5 hours or until pork chops are so tender they fall off the bone!
The recipe is flexible enough so that you can freely add more nutmeg, orange peel, or brown sugar. I always increase spices and some other ingredents in crock pot recipes.
Serve a slice of squash with each chop. I like applesauce as a side dish. :-)
Share your fall recipes here if you like. :hi:

good for when you have a couple friends over on a weekend for margaritas!!! you will need: 1 pound hamburger 1 white onion 1 can chopped chilies (4.5 oz) 1 can mild enchilada sauce (medium size) 1 can golden mushroom soup (10.5 oz) 1 can cheddar cheese soup (10.5 oz) 1 can cream of mushroom soup (") 1 can cream of celery soup (") 1 regular size package Doritos Instructions: Brown hamburger and chopped onion; drain grease. Put all ingredients into Crock Pot except Doritos! Mix and cook low 4 or 6 hours (up to you). 15 minutes before you are ready to eat, add Doritos and stir. 15 minutes later, YUM YUM YUM!!!! This is really healthy! Not really! :-)

5. Matcom's Crock Pot Roast |
|
1 bottle scotch 1 chuck roast 1 bottle (yes bottle) horseraddish sauce 1/2 bottle red wine 2 cans beef broth 2 bay leaves salt & fresh cracked pepper
pour glass of scotch and take a sip. set aside.
place chuck roast in crock pot. cover with horseraddish sauce (sauce will cook away), wine, beef broth (+1 can water), bay leaves, salt & pepper.
you will be thirsty now so take another drink of scotch.
let cook on high for about 5 hours (continue scotch consumption as required)
add cut veggies (I use mushrooms, pearl onions, carrots) and baby redskin potatos.
you will REALLY be thirsty now so keep that scotch flowing.
let cook for another 2 hours or so on low
grab spoon and remove roast onto platter (yes SPOON cause it will be THAT tender)
pour scotch and serve up dinner :D

No ribs were boiled in the creation of that recipe. :D
But some scotch was harmed during the production...
