Can anyone help me with an Access database
Normally, I'm everyone else's guru. But today, I'm clueless about Access. My Choir library is on Microsoft Access. I have a form created, but all I can do is scroll through my records. What I want is a search form that looks just like my database form, where I could search for any term, and get results.

Can anyone look at this and help?

I assure you, the file is safe and virii free.

set up command button controls on your form. you will then have to set up a query using your table(s) as the reference. in the field(s) you want to search on, set a criteria (Ex: Like <Enter the state to pull records from:> ) Note: replace <> with brackets like you use on DU

when you click the command button on the form, you call a macro (easy to set up) which runs the query and produces a datasheet with the results.

hit F1 to pull up the help menu and search on "query criteria" or something similar to get you started

3. LOL! it sounds MUCH worse than it is
I assume you have pretty good computer skills. If so, it really isn't that hard. I have given you the basic premise of what you are after. Sorry I don't have time to be more specific. Maybe someone else here will.

Keep in mind that your tables have to have 'headings' in the first row (I assume they do).

Remember: Control Button (on Form), calls MACRO, that runs QUERY, which returns RESULTS

you'll do fine :D

4. I do have excellent computer skills
I was a Network Technician in a former life. Access, however is not a program you just figure out. Especially if you only have a passing interest in Access databases.

I'll work on it some tonight.

5. you might find it quite fun actually
a lot of people poopoo Access but the learning curve isn't as bad as say SQL.

if you have the basics (sounds like you do) it will come fairly easily once you get the gist.

i actually enjoy Access and it works for about 90% of the things I need it to do. Interfaces pretty well with other programs too (2003 version anyway)
