I just saw a thread about jazz piano on another, non-political site...
Everyone was talking about their "favorite jazz pianists."

I am horrified to say that, in over 50 posts, Bill Evans's name did not come up ONCE.

:wow:

Shoot me now.

:D

3. Were there at least a few votes for Monk and Ellington?
Or Errol Garner? Or were these people ALL totally lacking in discernment?

4. Monk and Ellington came up a few times.
As did Art Tatum. Hell, I even saw a vote for Tristano.

But no Bill Evans! It's really very tragic.

Newsflash: Jazz pianists weren't all swingers, 'boppers, or smooth "jazz" groupies.

:wow:

5. Smooth "jazz" makes me want to projectile vomit.
It's like some misbegotten hybrid of instrumental R&B and Muzak. And the radio stations that advertise themselves as "jazz" and only play this neutered, soulless, Kenny G-ified garbage REALLY piss me off.

6. They need to be castrated themselves.
The abuse of the word "jazz" in such a horrible context makes me want to suffocate something/someone, somedays.

Give me my real cats, please.
