Thanks!

2. Sometimes the best deals are on the airlines' websites.
Travelocity and Orbitz, etc. sometimes charge additional fees that the airlines don't charge, because those travel websites charge the airlines for their services. So figure out which airlines go where you want to go, then compare their fees with the fees charged by the travel sites. The airline itself might offer a better deal. Also check carefully for surcharges that might not show up on the basic fee.

Hope you're going somewhere interesting!

3. Kayak and Sidekick
They aren't travel sites like Orbitz, travelocity, etc but they are search engines that searches all these travel sites and finds the best price out there!

8. Yep, but I didn't go to any of the club style places
Edited on Sun Oct-22-06 06:51 AM by LynneSin
but there were a ton of pubs in the district and had a hoot! I was so hungover the next morning mainly from dehydration

And the sites are great - saves you from hitting up all the other travel websites trying to find out who has the best price

10. I'm on my 3rd water bottle and 2nd slice of cold pizza here.
I have no fucking clue why I woke up at 6am. I wouldn't have minded delaying my slight hangover with another few hours of sleep.

16. The excuses never stop, do they?
"Blah...blah...blah...I was hung over...blah blah blah...I was in a different country."

:eyes:

At least I have a good excuse. I was supposed to be canvassing today, but I have a 5-year-old's birthday party to attend. It's probably for the best that my slightly-hung over ass is going to a family function with other hung-over & drinking people and not out being the face of the Democratic Party.

12. Once you've booked, be sure you're in a comfortable seat
www.seatguru.com

Also, if you need rental car discount codes, I think the flyertalk.com discussion boards have the best (see the "Miles and Points" section, and look for the rental car discussion boards.

15. Don't forget, when searching, to try alternate airports and times
For instance, Ontario CA will usually be less expensive than LAX. And, Baltimore will sometimes be lower than Reagan National. And, lately, the fares into and out of Miami Intl have been up to 50% the price of West Palm Beach. And, almost always, if you can stand it, returning at 6am or 7am on a Sunday is substantially lower than fares on a Sunday afternoon. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are almost always less expensive than Fri/Sat/Sun travel.

There are many more secrets...combining "hidden cities," signing up for web alerts where the airlines will email you when fares go on sale for particular cities you are interested in....and, traditionally October and January are times the airlines lower fares (though, that is all changing now that they dump distressed inventory onto the web).

Good luck! :hi:

Sometimes one uncovers deals the other one doesn't.
