Is computer gaming going down the internet?
Too me the idea of computer gaming is going down the internet(a series of tubes). the primrary reason being the over relience on graphics over gameplay, so instead of having a realy good game with passable graphics(Battle Field 1942) we get games that are much less entertaining with graphics so ramped up it causes stability problems (Battle Field 2).

2. It's all become a pissing contest
The hardware makers became convinced (maybe through competition) that Moore's Law was in fact a literal law, i.e. a statute that had to be followed. But it could never go on forever; physical realities put paid to that.

CPU makers hit the wall a few years ago, which is why CPUs never got much faster than 3.5GHz - to do so requires too much power and the heat dissipation problems are unfeasible. Only a few people are willing to install water cooling, let alone anothing more exotic. A fan and a heatsink is the only realistic proposition for the mass market.

So also have the graphics card makers hit the same problem, which is unsurprising given that GPUs have an even harder job to do than the main CPU.

So far, the answers from the hardware industry have been simply asinine. Can't squeeze more speed out of the chip? Well then, use two! Or four! Stick two CPUs on to one piece of silicon! Run two graphics cards in your computer! Or four! Never mind the fact that you now need a 1KW power supply to run all this shit, yes that's a FUCKING KILOWATT or the same as a ONE BAR ELECTIC FIRE!

This shit simply can't fly. I refuse to believe it.
