1. I'm torn

When I saw "Speed Trap" in the preliminary round, it was cropped badly, apparently because of a server error. Now that I see it as intended, it's a marvelous shot — exquisite contrast, good composition, perfect lens choice, and the grain and slight blur actually work it its favor. (I was thinking, about the only thing that could improve it would be a car blurred almost beyond recognition, going up the grade, away from the camera.)

I still love "Passage to slavery" because the man is framed by both arches, but mostly because it makes one think, "What is he looking at?" It needs to be sharper, and it'd help a lot if there were light on the man's face, but it's still a fine example of photojournalism, of capturing a moment.

Can I give half a vote to each of these? :7

16. It is very difficult to select just one...

But, having a "discerning eye" (I know the photo group will know what I mean...haha), I felt compelled to vote for October Angels.

I must admit, though, my emotional side wanted to vote for Van Damm Path because I almost felt like I was there...I could almost hear a twig snap below my feet, imagining walking along that path!

visual representations of paths/passages. It's an honor to get my butt kicked month after month by some of the finest photographers.
