You can get a damn lot of work done when you wake up at 4 in the morning. |
|
I just can't seem to sleep more than six hours lately, no matter what I try.
It doesn't matter if I exercise, eat well or poorly, go to bed early or late. At six hours, bam, I'm wide awake. Last night I tried a few glasses of wine as the evening was winding down, and toddled off to bed around 10.
I wonder what the heck is up.

I wake up between 4 and 5 a.m. every morning. The Wiley and Excellent Boy Cat Named Ginger is the world's best alarm clock. x(

2. Alcohol won't make you sleep long |
|
It puts you to sleep at first, but after a few hours as it leaves your body you will be woken up.

4. If you only drink a little then it probably won't affect you like that |
|
It's only if you go and get hammered that you usually find you wake up early the next morning. Which is usually when you'd rather sleep in a bit. Or at least, so I have found in the past.

11. This is SO TRUE for me now. |
|
I have the luck to have a job where drinking is part of it....really...and I have a "point of no return" where if I go over a certain no. of drinks, it is guaranteed that I will pass out when I get home for about 2 to 4 hours..then I'll be awake for another 5 or 6 until I can get my body to calm back down. It's gotten worse as I get older.

a whole lot. Insomnia (which isn't just trouble getting to sleep, but staying asleep) *can* be a symptom of depression. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to have a chat with your doctor.

I feel absolutely exhausted in the morning if I don't make the 8-9 hour quota, it drives me crazy! I hate sleeping, such a waste of time, I wish I had your condition, anything to the reduce the amount of time just laying there.

7. You probably just have a lot on your mind |
|
Happens to me, occasionally, when I'm going through stuff.
Be sure to take your vitimans...don't eat poorly. Oh, if you want to sleep more you might try staying away from all caffeine (or, limit yourself to 1 cup in the early morning hours).
Take care..

9. Don't worry about it if you feel rested. Many people need less as they |
|
get older. In your case it may have some stress component and be a minor problem, but again unless it is affecting things negatively, don't worry abour it.

After a loss such as you have had, this is normal. Every time my ex and I would break up, I would not sleep for more than 4 hours a night. When he died, I slept that night and the next...and then not again for about a month, except for naps. I bet you're not eating much either, are ya? I lost a whole lot of weight every time we had drama. It really has nothing to do with whethere or not you think you still care, it just takes awhile for your feelings to balance out so you can sleep.

|
Maybe a few more veggies, as I'm cooking again. Exercising more, spare time increase.
I really did feel at peace last night, though. Thought I'd sleep more than I did.

you seem to be handling this better than I did! Sounds like you're already on your way to recovery. Her getting her stuff probably helped; heading towards closure is always good. I'd expect you to increase your sleep or at least the quality of it now....
